Alright, here's what I got so far

Very nice. I agree with marking the throat of the world mountain and just a question on the Basic Map with landscapes how come their is no color blotch for Tundra at the bottom left? Did you forget to add that?

And adding that 4 cell location at the Western corner of Skyrim's coast.

Also, Dragonbone should add Faulgor's maps and the original flattened scan to the OP.

Started trying to name the small places. Until we get a better pic of the map though, this will probably entail quite a bit of guesswork. Anything with ? marks in it is pretty much a guess at the letters/words.

EDIT: Also, the place below Winterhold and above (what appears to be Mittani) looks like 'Saarthal' to me...

Nicely done! Two questions though. Why isn't throat of the world marked and shouldn't fall forest be green instead of brown and pine forest be brown instead of green?

I personally don't think so. When you think of autumn, do you think of green? I think of browns, reds, yellows, and oranges. When you think of pine trees, do you think of brown? I think of green. They're Evergreens, after all. The only things around me that stay green year round.

I know this thread is a few days old, but it deserves a bump for it's great content.

Also, more to the point:

I can clearly make out "Saarthal" as the name of that small grey square on the coast close to Winterhold.

Saarthal is a historically important place; according to the Pocket Guide 1st Edition, it was the first Nordic (and thus, the first human) city on Tamriel.

I wonder why The Throat of The World isn't in the middle on Skyrim.

Can I just ask how people know what type of landscapes there are? Like volcanic tundra and all the others? Or are you just guessing? :brokencomputer:

Can I see this then? I'm a little curious because I think people are just guessing.

Is it me being daft or is it not indicated on any map so far? I fail to discover it.

Yes it is. Look at the big mountain, find the square inside it. Now look at the text right under it. "Throat of the World"

But it looks a little too far south doesn't it? I though throat of the world was middle of skyrim and high hrothgar was on top 7000 steps up?

Take it up with Bethesda, it's now official lore. Also, the mountains on the map are 2d representations, the peak is closer to where the square is.

Wow. That's so faintly visible and at un unexpected place I could've searched for all eternity. I only found it by looking at the actual screenshot, not by looking at the excellent maps made by other members. Even then I couldn't ever make that out of it if you didn't say so its location is there. Thanks for pointing that out.

The peak is high hrothgar though. The mountain on which it sits a top (throat of the world) should be more in the middle?
