i cant answer i would love that but it would also be bad since everything everyone does effects the rest of the world they would have to limit the number of things to do which is one of the best things about skyrim

I don't think it would fly as an MMO, mostly because Skyrim and the other TES games have always stood on two legs: 1, being single-player experiences, 2, having stories that have a beginning and an end which involve 1 person being the hero.

An Elder Scrolls MMO would have to not have a deep, engrossing central story with a beginning and end, and without that, it wouldn't have that special TES feel for me anymore. Yeah it'd be pretty, but there are lots of other pretty games out there too.

It depends how they would do such a thing.
On one hand, it could be a piece of crap,
on the other, it could be FRICKEN AMAZING.
But most people believe it would be crap, even though such a thing doesn't exist.

What if it did exist and wasn't crap? Well you wouldn't know because you don't want it that much.

and they could make a feature length film of Skyrim, with the Rock playing the Dovahkiin, and the voice of Robin Williams for Alduin.

Let's turn Super Mario Brothers into a hardcoe first person shooter. Same thing.

No it's not.

Single player RPG and MMORPG is essentially the same genre - they are both RPG's.

I'm not advocating for Elder Scrolls to become an MMO - what I love about Elder Scrolls, I don't think would work in an MMO.

But the absolute hatred for anything that's not a fully numbers based, dice roll RPG around here is staggering.

Don't believe me? Look at all of the responses around here towards the FPS genre of games like Modern Warfare, Battlefield, the people that play them, consoles, and this very thread, the anger at the very thought of MMO, Elder Scrolls or otherwise.

I'm looking at The Old Republic. I played the beta. It svcks hard compared to the single player games.

MMO's are terrible. It's bad enough I visit these forums out of some sick perversion, I don't want to have to see you degenerates in game either.

This.

Why does everything that ever existed have to become an MMO nowadays. For a while, lots of companies were trying to horn in on the success of World of Warcraft; I get that. But those days are long past by now.

Just like the guy who needs to upgrade his Velocicraptor to a SSD. Battle.net has the market and is coming out with Diablo. So i wouldn't bother if i was Bethesda.

I don't think Bethesda is that big of a studio yet to be able to make an MMO AND make the next TES.

I'd rather they make the next TES VI 100x better than skyrim than an MMO.

No. Just no, and then no some more.

As evidenced by World of Warcraft, an MMO is an excellent way to completely discredit the story of a long running franchise. Now, I happen to like TES lore, and I don't want to see it degraded to the point where lore rich items like Chrysamere, Goldbrand and the Ebony Mail are reduced to 'phat lewt' and spooned out to the masses like so many cheap candy bars.

In before lock.

I do think it's funny how anti-any genre that's not a "hardcoe" RPG people are on this forum tho.

We aren't anti-any genre, we are just anti-turning one of the last great RPG developers into flavorless MMO or mindless action game developers.

I weep for it. Warcraft is my favorite strategy series of all time. I am now kind of worried about the future of Starcraft and Diablo after World of Warcrafts success. I am a little worried they will ruin their best franchises. By turning them MMO. I hope Bethesda never follows this path with the greatest game series in the world The Elder Scrolls.

No, Owen Wilson as Alduin, and Nick Cage as Dovahkiin.

Continuing on that anology, a SSD makes a poor primary drive and usually has a rather short lifespan.

+ Lots of Content
- crap gameplay
- crap graphics
- crap quests
- crap immersion

Basically this.

This thread did make me think how cool it could be if you had a PC game in a similar vein of Skyrim, but with a world that was persistent for a set of players and their specific characters (but not completely static like an MMO, I wouldn't even call MMOs persistent since anything you kill respawns when you leave). Basically, something like Dungeons and Dragons, only one person could pop on and do some stuff by himself if he didn't want to play with his buddies. I don't know how well group combat would work with Skyrim's system though.

Wow didn't realize they had to create an official thread for this.....in general...but I feel anyway by doing that they are limiting the discussion about it just to keep away flaming....
