Skyrim Modders and Mods...

Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 8:10 am

I've made small mods for Morrowind, mostly houses or bases for my characters, but I've never released anything. I get a little better with each one. I'd like to release something, but I would have to create something worthy of release first. I like using mods, some of them are excellent. I was a DM when I played PnP RPGs, and modders are the DMs of the TES world. I dream of creating a solid quest mod, but I need to study and practice for awhile before that happens. I'm cutting my teeth on Morrowind. If I ever released something, I would want it to be able to stand alongside the the other good ones out there, and be a good experience for someone, not a nightmare.

Right now scripting is like a zen koan to me. It's a nut I'm determined to crack, but very confusing. Satori is elusive.

Let's say, that I do not think that I will touch CK for quite a while, and try to feel the vanilla game, and see how that works, unless some great flaws show themselves right away, which I do not think would happen.

Then, I might think about whether the game-play and leveling aspect of the game would need a bit of tweaking, and retouching.

After that, I would download mods that add content to the game, or make it more pleasing to the eyes, and the like.

a Large fully self sustaining(smith/farming/ the whole shibang) fortress in western Skyrim (want to stay away from cliffracers) I'm expecting usable ballistae to be in the game. then I'll see how NPC interactions and controls are handeld, and then from their decide whether there will be prexisting NPC's or that some will gradually come in. as well as determining if ignoring the MQ will set Skyrim ablaze from Dragon assaults/ Faction conflicts / supporters of the Dragons etc etc.

I voted "on PC but don't use any mods."

To clarify though, I do use the unofficial patches and the UI replacements by Darn. I guess those could be considered mods, but I view them more as tweaks. I do not use any mods that change the content in the main game as I view that like re-editing a movie or changing the colors in a painting. Games are art to me, so changing the developers' work is sort of over-the-top for me. The UI though, I just couldn't tolerate Oblivion's super consolized UI, it had to be changed. I did change Morrowind to run in widescreen too, but again I consider that more of a tweak.

Considering mine are usually basic weapon changes and simple house and what not, so I dont put them up anywhere.

But I certainly download other players mods, because some of them are absoultely amazing.
