Yes, i know there is now a pluggin for max you can http://niftools.sourceforge.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=3178 which allows you to load up .nif's But what are people using to extract the meshes from the games files in the first place?

Oh I see what you're saying. I downloaded and use the Fallout Mod Manager, that lets you unpack the meshes.bsa

Download the FOMM as said above, and then use the BSA Browser built in. Open the BSA file for textures, models, and etc, and then find the option for extracting them. Then you're good to go. :)

Use the fallout mod mannager, there is a tool to extract the *.bsa archives

Question and sorry for ressing semi old thread but search provide little help. Is there a .nif viewer or similar to load models in Lightwave 10.1 cause I no longer have a machine capable of running 3DSM atm and I can not stand Blenders UI.

I use BSA Browser. Works perfect for me.

I used the fallout manager as others have said. But it only worked for the meshes bsa. Gave me an error on the texture bsa. So i used BSA Opt, it can be found on Skyrim nexus.
For me anyway, seems to work fine for plenty others.

If i understand right,
What you want is Nifskope. Load the .nifs in that, then export them as obj. Then load import/load the .obj with lightwave.

Edit- Didnt realise i was replying to op's post from a month ago :P
