What movies would you recommend a fellow Elder Scrolls fan to get him in the spirit for the upcoming Skyrim release?

There's 13th Warrior that got some kind of Skyrim feel IMO.
There's also the CG animation Beowulf that has it.

Note that the 13th Warrior is somehow inspired by the Beowulf's legacy so both film kinda feels the same, albeit one is animated,

Well, it depends on what kind of character you are going to play in Skyrim i think, but Conan the Barbarian comes to mind

Movies on how to cope with anxiety and obsessive disorders.

I admit I am somewhat excited about the game and I'm anticipating it release, but what some people here do and post is borderline psychotic.

Not going to claim that the movie itself is good or whatsoever but yes, the dragons are great.

I rent... rented? (err... is this an irreguliar verb?)

Crap... I went to the video store and took Pathfinder movie because it looked like a viking movie, which is kind of the feel Skyrim has. So yeah, dunno if the movie's any good, Imma listen to it right now.

13th Warrior is actually based on Eaters of the Dead. A great book by Michael Crichton

Its a GREAT read, and would also be a good way to pump you up for Skyrim.

Edit: It is slightly related to Beowulf, but a lot more realistic. So dont exspect to story to be the same.

Thor (pretty decent if you havn't watched it yet.)
How to Train Your Dragon (lol, but....I did like it)
Outlander (Corny as hell....but still VIKINGS FIGHTING SPACE DRAGONS!)
Valhalla Rising (I havn't watched this one yet but people liked it)

Really? Didn't knew that. That's nice, thanks for the info. It's still very similar to Beowulf in my opinion but, yeah, like you've mentioned it's more realistic (there's no real "fantasy" like in Beowulf).

Anything by Mr. Crichton is good, no matter what the setting is, but Crichton + Vikings was a pure win. One of my favorite books actually, so I'd recommend it to anyone. :tops:

Rented does sound weird, but it's correct. You might want to try watching the movie as well.

Willow is a great choice for many reasons; IMO so is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rA8MeJFRh04 and ... well... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuMsjj6yBhA&feature=related also.

Rented, ad no, it's not an irregular verb.

Also, I saw pathfinder on the T.V a while ago. I didn't particularly like the story, but it has some pretty awesome fight scenes up to about halfway through, were they start focusing on the crapy storyline more. :P
