Well, Skyrim has been officially announced and we are all excited and happy and going nuts about it but I've got a question that I was hoping someone from Bethesda could answer, is Jeremy Soule coming back for TES V? Because Morrowind and Oblivion's music are great and I still hum them when I walk around to places when I don't have an iPod with me and of course just exploring places in the games themselves
At the very least, the music used in the teaser is a variation on the unofficial official Elder Scrolls theme that's been in use since Morrowind... and isn't that where Soule came into the franchise?
I'm almost certain(emphasis on almost), that the music from the trailer was another remix of Nerevar Rising from Morrowind, just like Reign of the Septims was. I hope that Soule will be the one to do the music, and if not then whoever did the music for the trailer must do the music for the rest of the game.
The Morrowind theme tune is my favourite piece of music, bar none. I love that game to pieces, and part of that is down to the sheer atmosphere of that song.
The Oblivion theme tune is also pretty epic - I always end up comparing it to "He's a Pirate!" from Pirates of the Caribbean I for some reason xD. And I really like the chanting thing they have going on in the trailer.
I suppose I will play with the vanilla music for the first two years, then play with modded music for a year, then switch to sound only...just like I did with Oblivion. IT'S INEVETIBLE...

Please let it be Jeremy Soule!
I just started listening to the Morrowind soundtrack while studying: it's a great help.
The chanting is, indeed, freakin' awesome. I'm hoping we'll get more of that in the game itself. The trailer theme felt new, but at the same time, recognizably Elder Scrolls. I love it.
It's a more badass nordic version of what I like to call "the elder scrolls theme song". It's fun if you listen to how it's changed from daggerfall to skyrim. In daggerfall it was very 64bit and "pretty" sounding. Morrowind it went a very air instrument and peaceful version which I think reflected the game world well. Oblivion's version sounded to me very civilized, powerful and imperialistic. Suitable considering the game was based in Cyrodiil. Skyrims however sounds very powerful and Nordic. And gives me the feel this will be a much darker game than it's predecessors.

Finally someone who acknowledges that the theme didn't start with Morrowind. I was starting to think I'd imagined Daggerfall.

Different generations of players, mate. Started with Morrowind myself, which leads to some mistaken ideas as to what was always here. Patience is required I guess, oh wise one.
Actually have Daggerfall, but my old computer broke down shortly after I finally managed to make it work. Never got around re-installing it.

Hey don't look at me, I'm an Oblivion Console Kiddie.
I suppose that makes me more likely to notice what sounds like the Oblivion theme when I am playing Daggerfall.
The music is absolutely mind-blowing, way better than Oblivion's, it reminds me a lot of Hans Zimmer's Pirates Of the Caribbean soundtrack (At World's End especially) and he's the master of epic music in my opinion (would be amazing if he reworked this theme, but I doubt it). Whoever did this (probably Jeremy Soule again) really did an excellent job in making it sound as epic as possible. Really drew me in.
