Why not play as an redguard, thats can be

It's nearly impossible to make a Redguard like Cyrus in Oblivion
Oh god, I'm blind!
Anyway, I love Redguards. They're my favorite race. It's nice that you played TESA: Redguard and liked it and all, but Stros M'kai is not quite the standard for Redguard behavior. In addition to it being very very long ago in the past, it's mostly old, angry Redguards who were only that way due to highly unusual circumstances. "Crowns" and "Forebears" make no sense in modern day Skyrim.
I don't want "skinny builds" either. If anything, Redguards should be a little more buff. They're one of the best overall warrior races in all of the games.
Sure, I want better Redguards. I want all of the races to be even better. I don't think that's going to be an issue.
If you read the lore description, it even mentions them being wiry and agile.
My eyes! Redguards should be as they were in Redguard.
Yes
DEAD.
If by 'better' you mean much more attractive, then yes. I haven't really seen any attractive male Redguards anywhere (including mods), and the generic females aren't much better (but receive a lot more attention from modders).
But anything else, aren't the Crowns and Forebears united now?
I'm not sure about the latter, where did you read that?
I agree, Redguards shouldn't just be black Imperials, seeing as how they are, in no known way, connected to any of the other Human races by blood or homeland.
Agree
Not to sound racist (because someone will misconstrue it, I'm sure) but I believe Redguards are so underused because white gamers just cannot relate to black characters.
It's a stigma that stems mostly from the MMO genre. Where to many, your online avatar has to relate to you personally or else you're "weird." You see the debate all over MMO forums: "why do guys play as girls?" and it always boils down to those who view their avatar as themselves in the world, and those who take the opportunity to become someone else. With perhaps a smattering of "I like eye candy" here and there.
Those that do not view their character as themselves tend to be all over the place: elves, orcs, cats, three-toed sloths. But those that view their characters as themselves in a new world will of course gravitate towards races that are mostly human-like. With the Elder Scrolls, we have some variety in our humans, but the most noticeable divide between them physically, is that the Redguards are black skinned. Given that the stereotypical "gamer" is a teenage/young advlt white male, it's really no surprise to me to see Redguards go under-appreciated in such a poll.
I do not believe however that Redguards are in any need of a visual or lore overhaul. They have a rich history and a unique style of religious views. And as mentioned, they are statistically a powerful race. Adrenaline Rush has always been one of my favorite racial abilities and my MW Redguard was a total badass. I couldn't get into them in Oblivion though... it looked like Bethesda made their faces crooked to me
Suffice it to say, Redguards are going to be fine, and those that can appreciate them, will use them.
In the latter point of view, most of the "adherents" don't even use Redguards, with Redguards being the least used. What I am saying is that they should be more unique and interesting to draw equal attention as the other races..
