Skyrim on next gen consoles?

Post » Tue Jun 11, 2013 7:23 pm

I was just wondering if Skyrim would be made available for the Xbox One (try and type that without laughing) or the PS4?

Its just because I've heard that those consoles will not be backwards compatible so the 360/PS3 version would not work on the new consoles.

Anyone got any ideas?

No backwards comparability? really?....well that svcks, what am I going to do with all my 360 games?

And nope, i doubt they'd redo the game for Xbox one.

Yeah, you'll just have to hope that your 360 hangs in there for the next several decades /:

No.

They are done with Skyrim. And once someone is 'done' with something, they usually, you know, don't do anything more to it unless absolutely necessary..? Unless of course, this is a parallel universe where the word done actually means the phrase "Just beginning."

Nothing been announced at this time.

The different architecture doesn't matter one bit, considering the Skyrim code is quite portable and already been released for 3 different architectures.

I'm actually glad. A game like Skyrim should never have to suffer being put into the so called console the... I can't even say it

I don't think so. It'd be an odd ball if it did. Then again, newer games like Bungie's "Destiny" are coming out for both, but they're still babies; Skyrim's almost three years old.

How are they planning to do that, by developing two versions? Seems like the XBox One version would have to have more features to take advantage of the new system.

And because it lets them make more money... People who want to play older games will have to buy older consoles too -> more profit.

Due to a massive difference in hardware of there won't be any kind backward compatibility. How can this even be surprising?

An to the topic itself, no, Skyrim very likely won't be released for next-gen. BGS has moved on, get over it.

I've been reading on their forums, and it seems that they're designers have found some way of bypassing that problem. We still don't know much about it and won't for another seven hours.

No, it will not be released on Next Gen consoles...

I don't see why so many people think it should be, if you want to play it, plug in your 360 or PS3...

Do kids nowadays not keep their old Consoles? I still have my Atari 2600, NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Sega Dreamcast, N64, PS2, PS1, Xbox, Gamecube, Wii, Commodore 64...

Way I see it, if I enjoy a Console, I should Keep it incase I ever want to play it again...

The problem is that those good ol' childlife consoles take on the years after a while. My Gamecube, for example, has a dying laser and my original Xbox is going through the red ring of death.

Maybe you could play them on your 360.

OT: If you want a next gen version it's already out, it's called the PC version.

It would be a bad idea. I'd rather have morrowind remade with modern graphics 1st.

Specs for both consoles have common knowledge for quite some time, surprising you haven't heard of them.

Common knowledge? I'm sure if I asked my gran she wouldn't recite all the specs of the Xbox One. I just play games, I don't have a clue about the inside of the console. Is that so surprising?

If one is interested in consoles, he/she should at least take glimpse at the specs. They can give quick answer to backward compatibility questions. Altough it requires a tiny bit knowledge of general hardware and their functionality.

Okay, just got out of the Microsoft conference here at E3 (perks of living in Los Angeles and having friends and family in the gaming industry) and cant wait to play Skyrim on my Xbox One when it comes out - at a whopping $499!!!!

Also, I really hope the reason we arent getting any new Skyrim DLC is because they are working on the next release for this awesome new xbox that is coming out. As Skyrim is light years ahead of and improved upon Oblivion, I cannot wait to see what Bethesda has in store for the next game in the series that will be on xbox one. so so so excited.

Sure, it could be possible. I know I'm getting the Mass Effect Trilogy when it comes out on next gen, why not Skyrim?

So Skyrim will be on the Xbox?

Sorry, my PS3 isn't a kiddie console. I feel the Xbox One has lost the console race. I don't want some lab scientists looking into my living room with the Kinect.

I'll take the PS4. More games, better exclusives.
