Maybe this thread will be locked, but ah well. I just need to vent. It's probably been said billions of times already but--
Skyrim is not Morrowind, nor should it be.
(bold + italics = serious business)
I can't emphasise that enough.
I recently started a new playthrough of Morrowind -- Dunmer Nightblade, having loads of fun, doing quests, exploring, stealing, it's a blast

And then there's Skyrim. Where I, well, have loads of fun, do quests, explore, steal (on certain characters), and it's still a blast. Dunmer Battlemage, if you must know.
Going into the smallest details and comparing Skyrim to Morrowind and how it can't live up to the latter's standards and how the lack of a spell system makes it svcky or how streamlined abilities make it svcky or whatever else won't make Skyrim magically become Morrowind, because they're different games. They're both great, and fun, and different, no matter how flawed they are. Yes, Morrowind has flaws, but people tend to go all black (Skyrim) and white (Morrowind) when it comes to the absolutely frustrating comparison game.
I love how complex Morrowind's skills are. I love how streamlined and well-defined Skyrim's skills are. I enjoy doing the Mages' Guild questline in Morrowind just as much as I enjoy going around and doing things for Savos Aren and his lot. And so on.
That's all I wanted to say. Skyrim and Morrowind are great, fun games, and it's my opinion that they shouldn't be compared because 1) it's a fruitless endeavour and 2) it makes you look a bit smug (though that's just a personal view).
