Skyrim on old t.v.

Post » Fri Jul 12, 2013 5:40 pm

Skyrim gets cut off at the sides of my old square t.v., I can't see what new objects I have gotten or how much gold I have, I also can't see the magic bar and several other things. Can you add something to the options menu that would allow me to conform the game to my t.v.'s shape? I like this game but I'm not going to spend money for a new t.v.

It did the same thing on my copy of Two Worlds II. You gotta pay attention to the back of those game boxes. On some of the newer games the lowest resolution that it can be played at is 720p. Which is a little strange considering that my copy of Deus Ex was 720p also, but I could play that on my SDTV.

The only real fix is on your consoles display options to set your display on Widescreen. On a normal TV it will make everything skinnier, but at least you can see MOST of what you need to see. Other than that though, the only other fix is to save your $$$ and get a HDTV.

That's Bethesda's reply to my SDTV problem (found on the net)

Hey Nicholas,

You may want to try to see if there are any setting options for your television. For example, try different display resolutions.

Also, what type of cable is your television capable of utilizing. If you can use component cables, you will get a better resolution as opposed to the most basic cable.

This is actually something that is happening with console games in general as most of the capabilities for televisions out there are moving to all HD quality.

You can also buy a VGA cable which allows you to plug your console directly into your PC monitor.

Again, we are sorry for the frustration involved; outside of upgrading your television and trying the above suggestions,

there are no other options that would assist you. All refund requests must be taken up with the point of purchase.

Regards,

Dan M.
