Skyrim, Onlive

Post » Tue Sep 13, 2011 11:22 pm

Hey, guys. I'm new here, this is my first post. I was wondering if perhaps any of you knew anything about the possibility of Skyrim being released on OnLive besides the Xbox360, ps3 and pc.

My xbox360 broke with 3 red lights of death. It was no longer fixable, so I gave it away. It just died out of nothing while playing Oblivion. I've played oblivion so much, I'm a huge fan of the elder scrolls series. Not only that, also had great fun with fallout 3. I'm very excited for Skyrim release and have just seen a demonstration on gametrailers today. I wish I could play it. I've been playing Oblivion only, no other game. So Skyrim is a huge suprise for me, I'm glad that bethesda made Skyrim and not some other game developer.

I currently study alot and only have this low power netbook. I'm very bored with it because I only play Unreal tournament III matches and Dirt 3 on it trough OnLive, since it doesn't have any games. I tried installing the older elder scrolls and its too laggy.

Do you guys know if Bethesda has got any plans for releasing Skyrim on OnLive within atleast a year from its release date on the regular platforms? If not Skyrim, do they have any plans for Oblivion? Cause when witcher 1 came on OnLive, Witcher 2 was announced shortly after. And the same with dirt 2 and then dirt 3 came automaticly without announcement.

That would just make it be like the others Meta-Gaming MMOs...

Edit: Now I understand.

I'm not sure what you're asking.
Are you asking if there will be Xbox Live features in Skyrim, or if you'll be able to DOWNLOAD Skyrim off Xbox Live when it comes out instead of buying a hard copy? I'm afraid the answer to both questions is no.

Onlive makes it possible to have a Skyrim demo. Onlive has 30 minute trials of the full game instead of traditional demos.

Online for such a customizable game would require to much at current. Maybe on future consoles it will be able. Probably will be but I would always prefer a more detailed single player version of an elderscrolls game than multiplayer. TES has always been about your character solely in my opinion and for the better in my opinion as well ;).

For most of the comments so far: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OnLive
I don't think there is one planned, but I think it would be neat. Although the 30-minute Trial that OnLive offers for every game would be a problem for Skyrim. I was thinking about getting an OnLive, but my main focus of this year is Skyrim, so I didn't get one.

For those who do not know what OnLive is still, basically it is Steam and a console having a baby

You do know that in the EULA of OnLive you agree that when you "buy" a game on it,you buy it only for 2 years and then it gets automatically deleted from your account ah ?

I've spent a fair bit of time on Onlive and I doubt you'll see Skyrim there anytime soon, if ever. Despite the service being better than I thought it would be, it still has plenty of issues and I think a game with the scope that Skyrim encompasses would only compound the probelms that already creep into many of the 'lesser' titles which I already play there. Besides that there's only a handful of 'big' developers/publishers that deal with Onlive and Bethesda isn't one of them.

Thanks for all the replies. I was indeed talking about Skyrim being available for OnLive as in new online gaming platform, not online features for skyrim ^^

It really makes me sad that most people don't think its going to happen. Well, I guess we never know. I'll just have to wait and hope for the best, hehe.

I find it dificult to upgrade to a laptop since I'm really fund of the long batery life of the netbook and its portability. I take it everywhere for long study sessions and it never runs out.

But Skyrim is really messing with my desires. This game looks so brute. I can hardly wait and see wether it will come on OnLive or not. I wish some official from Bethesda could tell for sure that it wont come on OnLive, then I'll gladly upgrade to a laptop. Its just that with the Witcher series they said the same thing and now its expected to be released on OnLive. Think its already on Gaikai even. That made me stick with my netbook...

Now with Skryim, its not even out yet and I want to upgrade to a laptop. xD

OFFTOPIC: how do I edit posts and quote on these forums? I'm using iPhone, is there a way to switch to desktop version of this site?

Hmmm, if a laptop can't run World of Warcraft higher then medium at a starters area... Think I could run Skyrim on it?

Why would it be a problem?

It seems like Bethesda wouldn't want a demo, and would be a very exclusive feature.
