Skyrim to potentially have DX11?

VG 27... posted that todd howard may in the future make skyrim dx11 compatible. I don't know if this is certain but other games are doing this ( likecrysis 2). fingers crossed.

I thought he already confirmed Dx11 to be compatible? But maybe take advantage of its features in the future?

Tesselation for the win, this is good news. Releasing free graphics patches is a good way to satisfy the PC enthusiasts without spending too much development time before the game release for just one platform.

Lots of people are only purchasing the game when the patch is out with full dx 11 features, I for one am 50/50 on this situation.

I think he was talking about eventually implementing DX11 features in the creation engine not Skyrim. The article I read was talking about the engine not the current game made from it.

It's likely that the next fallout game or the next elderscrolls game would include the other features of the api. I don't think it is very likely that they are going to go through this release and change the code to implement the new shaders, tessellation, and what not.

I could be wrong, and would actually be happy if they do make the changes to Skyrim to make use of DX11 but I'm not going to hold my breath.

DX 11 support has been confirmed some time ago. Hearing from Todd that they might implement bigger DX 11 features such as Tessellation later on is indeed very, very great news.
I would even pay for an "enhanced DX11" DLC.
