Skyrim Pre-order bonus items

Post » Thu May 12, 2011 2:39 pm

Hopefully nothing in-game (they almost universally svck), and definitely nothing like the barrage of various-store-specific bonuses that FO:NV had - god, the forums were a blasted wasteland of stupid threads because of that ("they're FORCING me to buy six copies so I can get all the pre-order bonuses!" "how dare they remove content from the completed game and then make it into 'bonus' items to steal our money!" etc, etc, etc. Not enough  in the world to cover all the stuff that was spewed over the NV bonus items.)

A map/poster would be great. Even a physical item like the coin from the Oblivion CE would be nice also.

Cloth map would be nice. Some other trinket similar to the coin in the Oblivion CE would also be cool.

I always liked how the Ultima games always came with stuff like that. A cloth map and a moonstone rock, or whatever. Very neat.

I'm not a fan of how retailers get specific bonus items, but it's not a deal breaker for me. I understand that for marketing purposes, you have to show the brick-and-mortar stores some love, or they threaten to not carry your products. They'll go away soon enough and most things will be digital downloads, but I hope to still be able to buy physical copies from the game companies. I know EA has their own online store now to try and prepare for the day when there will no longer be a Best Buy or Gamestop.

The Witcher 2 'Premium' editions comes with a making of video DVD, official soundtrack CD, world map, game guide, pamphlet and a coin.

Something like that would do for me :)

And a Geralt bust! ...and a game of dice! ...and playing cards!

I like Collector Editions... I have it for Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout. Hopefully Skyrim Collectors Edition will be great! No in-game items please! I want my tangible little goodies!

I did my first and last pre-order with Dragon Age 2. I don't think Bethesda will turn Skyrim into a stunningly simplified console kiddie game, but I didn't think Bioware would with DA2 either. So until I am absolutely sure, no money will change hands irregardless of how cool the freebies look.

Maybe for your lil brother if you have one
maybe for your kid if you have one
Maybe just to play with it
Maybe just to throw away
Maybe just to Stick it in someones Ass
Maybe just Give it to your wife if you have one so she can use it as an [censored]
Maybe just to Sell it to kids
Maybe just to break it

Knowing Bethesda's formula for hype generation I have no doubt they'll have pre-order goodies. It'll more than likely be something out-of-game for the sake of collectibleness.

Yeah, out of game goodies are the best anyway. I love the deck of cards that came with RDR. I got two, one when I pre-ordered, and one when I got the game because they didn't keep track of who got them. In game stuff should be reserved for a limited edition, you're already paying more for the game, so a little extra content wouldn't be out of place, and they can charge for DLC for it later without anyone getting upset.
