Skyrim preview from Nerdist

Post » Fri Sep 30, 2011 12:15 am

I think it read more like the very personal (and quick) notes on the guy's short experience at Eurogamer.

He clearly stated that what negative stuff he mentioned were mere doubts and fears, and that he couldn't really tell if those were justified, since he got so little time; not once did I read anything remotely resembling "bashing Skyrim". Time and again he explicitly states that he can't make any final judgement because of the time he had at the expo and, concerning combat, he only watched and not experienced for himself.

The only thing that might get some people's knickers in a twist is his remark about how Skyrim's ambitious graphics took a lot of effort to make functional on a console.
Nothing more that I can find. And it certainly wasn't "illegible" :S

Isn't all this rather explosive hate simply because people get a bit touchy, just because it's not a glowing preview full of skygasms and rambling superlatives? Not trying to start anything here, just wondering...

The point is, don't write about something you really have no business writing about. It's like he was saying "I got to play it for 10 minutes so I think I have sort of a vague idea of what the game MIGHT be like?" Get past all the "Ho and Hum" and it's just him stating he has fears about the game and he is unsure what to think about it after seeing the game for 10 minutes. It's a whole article of opinions and nonsensical retraction.

I think it's because they give actual journalists more hands-on time. This kid was clearly just attending the expo with the press passes that anyone with a website can get.

Actually this bashing is coming up because, if you read his review he did not have any good background, he had no idea what he was doing, and he still decided to judge a game even tho he never really did anything. Truly i think his problem was that he waited for probably a good hour or more, only to get to play 10 min of the game. This would anger me myself and i would not enjoy what i played because of it.

Yes just cause he did not promote a game does not mean we should bash him, but we also shouldn't care about a review of 10 minutes of game play where he was only able to fight a chicken, and explore little of the actual game world. That and he bashes on the X-box graphics (I have seen them, there not really that bad). He is obviously a PC enthusiast, and seeing as there not as good as the PC he complains. Consoles are older systems yet can still hold up well, by next year we should start seeing the next gen consoles release.

So the guy plays it for 10 minutes, when he's entitled to play for 20 because he has something more important to do.
Then he writes a negative preview describing how right he was to say it was bad before he played it.
He criticises the graphics, saying they "look horrible" and made the game unplayable on console except for possibly if you sit a million miles away, when people can see the game for themselves and KNOW its not horrible.

And we are supposed to believe this guy is anything other than a self-important elitist polished turd with an agenda.

Seems to me like he wanted to play the game alot more before deciding whether or not to buy it. I don't know about you all, but I know alot of people who are buying this, have preordered this and have never played it, just because its TES and we have faith in Bethesda to be able to keep us intertained for more than a day. If I have to play a game for more than a few minutes in order to decide to buy it or not I normally don't get it.

No. No offense but 19 is not old enough to do the job well. The reason I say this is because it takes years of college to become a journalist. You don't just grab a keyboard and jump online and say you are a journalist. So no offense but no.

edit: I would like to also iterate that I myself do not qualify. I may be very intelligent and articulate but I have not had the college education to do it either. I would love to be a video game journalist though.

Good to see you guys aren't overly defensive about a game you haven't played yet.
