Skyrim on "Project Cafe"

Post » Thu Nov 11, 2010 5:20 pm

I've read about a little speculation on this, but haven't seen an actual topic dedicated to it.

With Nintendo releasing a new console (titled "Project Cafe") around 2012, it is possible that Skyrim could eventually be released for this seeing it should be at least as powerful as an Xbox 360. The PS3 version for Oblivion was released quite a bit after the Xbox 360 and PC release date, so it would make sense to make a Project Cafe version of Skyrim if there was interest for it (Or maybe release Skyrim when they make a GOTY edition). What are your thoughts?

So... it'll be as powerful as something that came out in 2005?

Great job Nintendo

The little Nintendo consoles can't handle the epicness that is a TES game.

On topic: I can't ever imagine it getting enough sales on a Nintendo console to warrant the port.

I don't see this happening, but if it is capable of running Skyrim, I don't see why not.

I miss the days when Nintendo was on top.

It depends on a couple factors.

1. Is the system going to be worth it for Beth to invest the game in.

2. Is the target audience going to be on this new system.

3. Will Nintendo be better in relations with 3rd party publishers.

4. Will it be worth it to divert other resources when those same resources could be put to use on Fallout 4, Skyrim Expansion/DLC or a new engine for future Beth Products.

I would say no currently right now but it's something that should be explored.

It's possible, but I think that if they release it for that console, It's gonna be like Oblivion with the PS3, around a year later.

If it really has a touchscreen on the controller, the possibilities with item management are huge.

I don't believe nintendo will make a system capible of running Skyrim. Their last 3 system have been inferior to the competition hardware wise, why do you think this will be any different?

Looks like we have a bunch of "my Skyrim can't be on your console" people. I say I support anything the brings in more money for Bethesda. Making future Elder Scrolls games even better.

That's exacly it though, 3rd party developers on the Wii were rare because they couldn't be bothered tailering their games for it. The hardware was very limited and so were the games really.
It makes sense that the next Nintendo console is powerful enough to attract more developers and try and get the PS3/360 party to give it a go. Also, who hasn't got a HD TV these days?

I think it depends on what type of console it will turn out to be. If it's just another gimmick like the Wii, no. I doubt it would have the hardcoe gamer base to warrant it.

They claim it has more power than the PS3.
Nintendo, as far as I can tell, is using to it attract more 3rd party developers. It makes sense for skyrim to be on it, if the controller warrants it.
Not much is known about it other than that it supposedly has a touch pad and button.
Think of the controller as the bottom half a DS, with your television being the top screen of a DS.

Of course this is all speculation, but I don't see why it couldn't with a little optimization and a likely interface overhaul.

I say support anything that brings Bethesda games to more gamers. I wonder what polls about porting Oblivion over to the PS3 (my primary platform) were like, if they existed. This poll disgusts me with all the naysayers (What purpose does denying another platform Skyrim serve?) voting in it.

Nintendo has always struck me as a more family-friendly game system. Skyrim doesn't exactly fit that definition

How about alot of people with logical thought processes. Since the 64, at least I won't speak of before that, 3rd party games have done very poorly because of poor support from Nintendo. Mostly first party games like Mario and Zelda have met with success, and many companies are becoming wary of putting money into Nintendo. I don't see money coming out of a port to a inferior console which becomes point two.

Nintendo has, since the 64 again, made inferior consoles when compared to the competition. These inferior consoles were also made by choice exhibiting bad buisness choices. I have no reason to believe they will magically pull their heads out of their rear and make a system with reasonable hardware this time around that is capible of playing Skyrim without significant development time gutting the game for a port to a console they aren't likely to get returns from.

Edit: I can't believe how bad my spelling is, I'm more tired than I thought x.x

I don't think they should be boasting that they've matched 2006 technology... in 2011.

Seti, didn't you used to have that Knights of the Nine avatar? The one who was worried if the PS3 version of Skyrim was going to be inferior to the 360 version? If you are, my memory is too good.

Nintendo's new console will be the "superior" console when it's released, so that won't be a problem.
