Skyrim rated 15 for "strong violence" by BBFC, not c

Post » Mon Sep 05, 2011 9:17 pm

Most of my games don't have PEGI ratings, Oblivion GOTY(PS3) was just rated by the BBFC.

Oblivion was released in 2006. At that time, UK was "not included" in PEGI system. It start in June 2009.

As far as I know the UK are more liberal towards violence in games/movies.

ya, we let anything slide right in.

from what I can gahter almost all of my games have used the BBFC (12,15,18) rating system and on the actual game boxes it has the BBFC logo under the number.

18s - L.A Noire, dead rising 1 & 2, bioshock 1 & 2, condemned 1& 2, dragonage, fallout, left4dead 1 & 2, borderlands, Red dead,

15s - Assassins Creed 1, 2, & B, Orange box, Oblivion

Only mirrorsedge and a tom C game have used Pegi

ofcourse, this is only my very limited sample. looks like Pegi is being used more and more

It's funny how often I've looked at a Xbox 360/PS3 cover, and yet still can't remember whether the ratings are from PEGI or BBFC. Although I distinctly remember that Halo 2 was a 16+, and that was Pegi. Oh wait, my brain has just clicked. Most of my games are BBFC, and not Pegi also. Red circles with 12/15/18 = BBFC. Jeez, it's been so long since I've been to school. :cryvaultboy:

Just because the game is rated 15 doesn't mean it wont be brutal there are some really violent 15 rated games, it justs means it wont be over the top.

Considering that Germany just barely unbanned the original Doom, will Skyrim even be allowed there?

Even Gears Of War 3 had no problems, why should skyrim have?

a la Dead Space (which is an 18 but anyway...). Besides, OTT gore doesn't have a place in The Elder Scrolls/ Skyrim. Not when it's so pretty.

Who cares what rating it is? What the hell is going to stop someone buying this game under age anyway?

BBFC ratings are just advised ratings, there is no legal law about them. Its the ESRB rating that will determine its proper rating.

The guy behind the counter at Gamestop or Best Buy saying "Can I see your ID?"

(It may depend on the store and how conscientious they are, but in my local stores.... I still get asked for ID, and it's been a good while since I was 18. :D)

Introduce the MT rating to the ESRB. "Mature Teen" Age 15 and up. I don't believe Skyrim should be in the same category as games with lots of gore, graphic six, and decapitations.

I don`t see a problem with Skyrim over there. There wasn`t with Two Worlds 2, and that has cut scenes of your character sticking a knife in the ribs of Varns etc, complete with blood sprays etc.

So, Skyrim should be fine.

So this means it's going to be a candyland? It's rated M in the States, so it can still have a darker tone. Just because it doesn't have decapitations or dismemberment doesn't mean it's "candyland".

That depends on if you define "dark" by excessive gore and such. Things can be darker without it turning into goreporm.

It's way past T material.
