Skyrim rated 15 for "strong violence" by BBFC, not c

Post » Tue Sep 06, 2011 5:48 am

Think it'll be PEGI 16 here in Denmark...same as Oblivion got :) Fallout got rated 18 though...so depends on the gore level I guess. Anyway I've never seen a retailer check ID on kids buying 18 rated games...it's generally up to the parents if their kids should play a game or not :)

Considering that Germany just barely unbanned the original Doom, will Skyrim even be allowed there?

Nordic culture references with a lot violence? Probably banned in Germany.

Skyrim has already been rated M for the US, confirmed by Gstaff, the rating at the bottom of this forum is the rating.

Never noticed M is actually just 17+ ...that's mature?
Oh well, I'm quite sure a 15 yo would be old enough to play Skyrim without being horribly traumatized :blush2:

That depends on if you define "dark" by excessive gore and such. Things can be darker without it turning into goreporm.

I hope you weren't making any reference to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/pormogrind.

Well, it's probably PEGI 18 and ESRB Mature

Didn't UK games used to get rated by BBFC, same as film ratings, then went to the universal PEGI rating. And America uses ESRB rating.

Two months and six days away. I remember when it was first officially announced and how the wait of those many months would seem long, and now we're (as you stated) getting closer to release. :celebration:

No.

My copy of Deus Ex: Human Revolution is rated 15 by the bbfc.

The ESRB rating at the bottom of this page says M, so that's what I'm going with.

Elder Scrolls games aren't really meant to be graphic. Fallout, on the other hand... :gun:

BBFC ratings are just advised ratings, there is no legal law about them. Its the ESRB rating that will determine its proper rating.

BBFC ratings are used for games with certain themes or content in the UK and are legally binding, meaning it is illegal to supply them to people under a certain age (15, 18 etc). Almost every game I own has been rated by the BBFC, with the exceptions being the ones that do not require a BBFC rating and use the strictly advisory PEGI system. An example of such is FIFA, which has no 'objectional' content.

I think it will be rated M in the US, though. We're not as uptight about violence/nudity/language as the Americans are.

They took one look at Sub-Zero ripping out spines back in the day and decided video games were turning all of the children in to spinal fluid hungering monsters.

Germany, Australia and the US will probably give a "Mature" rating. As far as I know the UK are more liberal towards violence in games/movies.

I love how when Americans have lots of violence in their media they are categorized in a negative way. Anyone in Europe it seems gets the clear for being "liberal".. hm

And why should you find it there? The thread is about the rating Skyrim has been given in the UK. As far as I'm aware it has not been rated by the ESRB yet.

That's the same age restriction as Oblivion, which is listed as only containing moderate violence: http://www.bbfc.co.uk/HDM220910/

Where as Skyrim is listed as containing strong violence, I imagine that means Skyrim is more violent than Oblivion?
