Skyrim re-release on next-gen consoles?

Post » Mon Sep 30, 2013 9:50 am

Should there be a Skyrim re-release on next gen consoles? It would have updated graphics, and come bundled with all the DLC as well as some of the best and most lore-friendly mods, such as Falskaar, Immersive Armors, Immersive Weapons, Wrymstooth, and maybe Helgen Rebuilt.

Does anyone else think this would be a good idea?

it won't happen, Beth is done with Skyrim...

it would take assets to redo graphics, assets that are likely working on the new Fallout and beginning early pre-production on TESVI (pre-production can take several years mind you)

and including player made mods in a re-release or a port would open up a can of worms Beth is better off burning, frozen with Liquid Nitrogen, smash, and bury in the Desert outside Dubai..

mods are something we will not see on Consoles for many years (if at all), so you will never see Mods such as Falskaar, Immersive Armors/Weapons, or Helgen Reborn on a console..

The project could be given to Obsidian or something, and I do recall Microsoft announcing somewhere that mods might be allowed on the Xbox 1 so long as the developer allowed it. I don't know about the PS4 though.

did Microsoft say that..?

I guess I'll take your word for it (I haven't been investigating in the next gen consoles that much..)

It wouldn't be hard to do, there is already an official high-res texture DLC for PC so they could just use that one and port it. It's easy money.

No way they would bundle unofficial mods with it though.

Updated graphics? You mean they turn up the already existing graphics settings and re-release the game?

Understand that the next gen consoles are the first consoles to be under powered compared to their PC counterparts at their time of release. A re-release of Skyrim on the next consoles will look visually the same and would really only have the benefit of... being on the next gen consoles since there won't be backwards compatibility.
