I have always wanted to go to E3. If it wasn't so damn far away I would. I was gonna go this year with a couple of buddies, but seeing how they both go to the middle east before then I'm kinda screwed lol.

I'll feel very guilty if I play it on Rememberance Day, so I won't touch it untill the 12th.

I don't understand people like you, no offense. Why would you feel guilty? That makes no sense. Nothing anyone has ever done in this world is cause enough for me to feel guilty for doing something that I want too. That's just silly.

I guess everyone has their own ways of paying tribute to the fallen. Whether it is wearing a red poppy, attending a parade, 2 minute silence, or indeed a full day if that`s your way.

For me personally, wearing a poppy is my sign of respect, whilst I chase Dragons (or vice versa) in Skyrim ;)

EDIT - Ammended my post since this is quite a sensitive subject.

No one should feel guilty playing it on that day, I certainly won`t. Would you keep your television switched off all that day? or not listen to music either?

Life does go on though, and for me personally, wearing a poppy is my sign of respect, whilst I chase Dragons (or vice versa) in Skyrim ;)

Well than maybe the person above takes the whole day as remembrance. But like you said, I wouldn't do it because I felt guilty. I would do it as a tribute perhaps, I have done a 40 hour famine a few times to kind of simulate what it is like to not have a lot of food before, but that pales in comparison to actually not knowing what/when you will eat again.

Then again I have also gone too a big thing in a park that simulates living like a homeless person. Everyone was allowed to bring tents and heaters and stuff, but me and my friends went with nothing but our clothes. We then scoured the city on foot before dark and built ourselves a warm, comfortable structure with no tools and no given resources. But that was more to prove that some homeless people are homeless because they aren't trying hard enough

Lucky for me, I'm a stay at home mom, so I'm home more often than not! :teehee: (Of course, I don't get to call in sick or take a vacation, because I'm also the singular food-source for a newborn...)

I hope to get Skyrim immediately when it comes out, if possible, and then maybe I'll get to play it when my kids are in bed (and lose sleep by staying up all night to play, regretting it painfully when my kids get me up at 6 am--but that's what coffee is for, am I right? ) My husband is off weekends, so the big question here is--who gets to play first? But I've got quite a few cards up my sleeve, and i'm usually pretty good at getting my way

Remembrance Day, Armistice Day or Veteran's Day in the States is supposed to be a day for showing honour for the millions of people who sacrificed their lives in order for folks like you to a) not have to throw away your lives every generation in some mindless war, but also b ) preserve the freedom and standard of living you are privileged to enjoy; which you have the luxury to spend on sitting on your backside playing computer games rather than felling timber in a sub-zero gulag, planting rice in a paddy field or being blown around as radio active ash.

If you have no empathy or sympathy for those who have died, and will die, to protect you, your future children and your society, then please do not belittle (however unintended) those who lack your more egocentric attitude. It is not so much a question of guilt, rather than it being a special day to to demonstrate deeply founded feelings of gratitude and respect to those who've died... for you.

If Scorch247 wishes to honour the fallen by not playing Skyrim then that's his right, and I for one will hold him in high esteem for it.

Shinovakhiin hasn't been unrespectfull with Scorch247 in any way. On the other way, calling another person egocentric without empathy IS pretty unrespectfull. You shouldn't act like that, regardless how full or reason you feel.

I guess I missed the part where remembering and respecting someone who died for the freedom I have meant I have to sit around all day, mourn, cry, and praise out with joy and appreciation and not do anything whatsoever until 12 AM when the next day starts.
Simply acknowledging that they did do that is pretty much all it takes. I do appreciate it, and I greatly respect veterans. That doesn't mean my day comes to a halt though.
Also, I've not been disrespectful whatsoever to anyone in this thread. Take that nonsense somewhere else.
You expressed your opinion, I expressed how I disagree. That's how it goes.

I can see this thread going in a bad direction... Frankly you are both right. It doesn't have to be a whole day thing for everyone so you aren't an egocentric [censored] and the other guy is right because if someone wants to spend the whole day on it then it is their choice.

My family has had a long history of fighting for our country. I take the day to honour the thousands who have died in defense of our country and other countries.

I don't think that it's silly. Thousands of young men have been through hell, and not always back, so that I have rights. If they can give their lives for me, I can give one day for them. I personally don't play video games on the 11th. That's my choice.

I don't believe in remembrance or mourning, so I'd just play Skyrim.

I'd rather not remind myself of the failings of humanity, I get enough of that daily.

Ugh, I hate having a life... I know I'm going to be really busy around the time that this game is released... I really want to take a few days off for it, but I know I can't :(
