is Skyrim repetitive?

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 8:30 am

Now don't get me wrong, I love Fallout, but I heard that Skyrim can get a bit repetitive, especially the dungeons. Its not that I mind repetitiveness, but it needs to be fun at least.

What do you people think before I go buy this game?

Of course. It's a large game and, subsequently, can get quite repetitive, but it's still fun. Be prepared for a lot of dungeon-diving and fighting, but at least the dungeons are cool and oftentimes have something interesting in them.

Great! Now I just hope I won't regret to have gotten this game as I've never tried an Elder Scrolls game

This. Of course with a game this scale it can't get too unique, but actually a majority of dungeons are very very different. Be it in layout or tileset, atmosphere or purpose. While I have noticed a few things that are the same in several dungeons (mainly tilesets) it has in no way been annoying at all. And I'm over 80 hours into the game. They did a MUCH better job with Skyrim than their previous games. There are so many tilesets, and each dungeon has a unique design and layout.

The dungeons are improved tenfold over oblivion and fallout 3. Yes it can get repetitive, anything can after hundreds of hours, but each dungeon does a pretty good job of being unique.

Certainly no more repetitive than Fallout. Probably one of Beth's least repetitive games since Morrowind.

It's not repetitive. Especially the dungeons. The dungeons in Skyrim are almost all unique, have their own story and sometimes quest, and many have completely unique traps or segments that you can't find anywhere else in the game.

But we live in an age where the cool thing to do is complain and be a critique, so you'll rarely hear anything good said on these forums.

Yes this, but in a good way. Its one of the most thought out and one of the most richly detailed game world ever created.

OP you will not be disappointed. :celebration:

I have found that most places have a 'little story' to tell.
This is a welcome change from Oblivion in which there were just 'fiends'
Instead in this game you may find notes that explain why people are in that cavern, and that is awesome.

The optional quests can be repetitive, but that's only because they added heaps of optional dungeons in the game, and also repeatable quests.

This also helps. The game world has none of the blandness that was Oblivion.

You won't find the uniqueness FO3 had.
Almost all the enemies in dungeons scale so it will be repetitive enemy-wise, but dungeons are well-made.

These said, you should definitely get this game.
Worth way more than most games on the market nowadays.

PS: oh and get it for the pc or imo you will regret it when good mods come out.

Not nearly as repetitive as all games released every year. TES games are the only ones i can count on to give me hundreds of hours of fun, interesting gameplay and a rich, expansive world that is well thought out and expansive. For me personally, a TES game at a standard game price = months and months of entertainment, years if you play it on PC. Everything else, except maybe a rockstar game = 2 weeks at best, the rest DLC or multi player. Generally speaking =) Oh,CDPR of the Witcher franchise is an up and coming company aswell, who hasnt forgotten about single player =)

Also,i love that there is an entire library of books to be read in TES games..i swear, ive spent hours just reading the lore in-game some days. Absolutely love the fact that TES lore is actually in their game,in-universe,and you dont have to go to wiki's to find out about the world. So engrossing =)

What are you talking about? All video games are repetitive. You just press buttons and watch things happen. :P
