Skyrim review?

Well since skyrim came out, I didn't buy it but a friend did, who let me play all I wanted in offline mode on his steam account. Nice guy. Awhile ago I made a post about how mainstream bethesda was becoming, and how I think their games are suffering for it.

I also thought for sure werewolves were not in, and a bunch of other things. Well I guess I will give a relitivly short review of the game.

For starters, I really did like it alot more than I thought I would. Some of it was well done and I loved how big alot of the dungeons were. Unfortunatly the quests were the biggest down point for me. Some of you can argue that these were great quests. College of winterhold? You become Archmage in what, 3 or 4 quests? 3 hours of play and boom, you are the archmage with not a single magic skill over 50.

Its really hard to enjoy these questlines. You know when something is about to end? Like, you can feel the entire thing coming to a climix, and you know the end is soon. Thats how i felt except it was more like "what, already?" For all the things there are to do in the game, their really isn't alot of content where it mattered.

For me, the shouts were really campy. Like, cheesy. As in not cool. Sweet so I yelled at a guy and he flew off the edge, quick let me call my gf and say FUS RO DAH. Cuz thats just so cool. They were a cool element to the gameplay, but I would have preferred their effects be intergrated into the spellsystem instead of as shouts.

I love werewolves, so I was very happy to learn they were in, and I was very impressed with the way they handled it in this game. Unfortunatly all good things come to an end. The higher the level I got, the less I transformed. Changing into a werewolf, like it did in morrowind, made you weaker, not stronger. And since most things in the game scaled you quickly became killed in one or 2 hits in werewolf form.

Level scaling was a huge problem in Oblivion. In skyrim, its handle better but still rears its ugly head quite often. Many times I would enter a new dungeon at high level. To be greeted by guys I was just kill in one shot, and then a guy who looked the same but would somehow have 50 times the amount of health as all his buddies, and do 10x the damage on top of that. This made things very random and kind of lame.

Spells were once again very underpowered in this game. Compared to what you can martially do in skyrim, magic next to useless if you put them side by side.

Hmmm, I cant think of much more to say, I don't want to get too deep into this. I liked it more than I thought I would, but I played it more than 100 hours. And now I don't feel like playing anymore.

It still doesnt hold a candle to morrowind, and you can definatly see the cheese and mainstream it oozes from itself.

To give you an idea of what I mean, if you could please indulge me here, let me take you on a guide of my favorite music, Hardstyle, and how it has evolved over the years.

In my opinion, this hardstyle here, represents daggerfall. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dyVrUn-YjU As you can see from listening. This is a mature place, mature music. You wont see many little kids going gaga over this stuff, because it wasn't made for them.

This hardstyle represents Morrowind. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAdtmmo0iEw Its still more or less the same, not as hard, and now its starting to appeal to more people. Some may not like it, but its still very similar to the old stuff.

This represents Oblivion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgeN_Uhfr4I The melodys are becoming more and more accessible to the larger audience. Its still good music, and has alot of potencial, but cheese is starting to ooze from it. Its no longer being made for the same people or with the same goals in mind, and its alienating the people who got into the music back at daggerfall and morrowind. The lighter kicks and happy melodies no longer resemble the old stuff.

This hardstyle here Skyrim.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3VPfC-PYTY Pure cheese, and it no longer resembles the music it evolved from. You will find that more children like this music now than advlts, it had become popular on the internet, and little kids are now starting to like it, more because its a fad then actual good music. They like it because its popular now. Kind of like how dubstep recentlyu got all this attention. The kicks are light, the melodys sound like they are made for little children at their school dance, rather than at big rave events. Most of the old school people have moved on and found other genres, because they can no longer appreciate and relate to it anymore.

This is what skyrim is too me, it sold really well, it appeals to a huge audience now, but its hollow, and its lost its soul! Just my opinion, but if you agree or disagree, let me know. Please don't flame, we are all advlts here. Wait..... hahahhaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
