Skyrim Running extremely slow, not sure why

Post » Sat Apr 26, 2014 3:19 am

Ok, so I have been running Skyrim at 60 FPS on High settings on my Lenovo Y510p no SLI. Then, i added the high res texture pack and a custom follower with the CK. All of a sudden, I was getting around 10 FPS, so I though "ok, just uninstall both" Nope, still getting 10 FPS even though I removed both my follower and the texture pack. I tried restarting the pc as well. Any ideas on how to get it back up?

Are you playing a save you made before installing the two mods? Are you sure that the whole content of the follower mod was completely removed from your system?

How much RAM and Video RAM do you have? The Hi Res texture packs can svck up some memory. If these are the Bethesda textures, unchecking the mods in the launcher should be enough to stop them from loading. IF these are mod sourced textures, and they are loose, then they can still get loaded with the game as most texture re placers don't' have an ESP or ESM.

One thing you might try is to use System Restore to go back to the day before you added these two things to your game. You might have to download a windows update again, but this wont' hurt anything to try it. And, you can undo this if you want.

That is a bad situation to be in. Please tell me you did not disable System Restore.

Your only other choice is to do a clean reinstall

Next time, at least use a mod manager to install your mods so you can remove them properly. And, make a forked save before adding any mods, or a new mod, so you can go back to a pre mod save.

YES

---------------

If your saves relying on your custom follower you have made, i wouldn't use those. !!!

If would take only those, before you added your custom follower.
