Maybe it's just me, but when I look at the tavern girl, I feel like she's got a 5 o`clock shadow. And I know it's not just the shadows, because it's visible even on the well lit side of her face.

She's bad complexion because she's a peasant woman.

I hope so. I like my mammoths big. Atleast as big as the dragon we've seen in the trailer. Atleast.

It could also be a mammoth "child's" horn. We know they've payed a lot of attention to make wildlife and animals and monsters more realistic, like if they make sense in the world which they live in. Mammoths are extinct obviously, but I imagine they went in groups with their "children" (don't know what to call it, lol), kinda like elephants.

Forget the floating cheese, I'm more concerned about the size of that puny mammoth tusk.

http://i53.tinypic.com/jpylhl.jpg

That horn could be from a different beast. But to me,i'd say it'spart of a mammoth tusk, not the whole tusk. Either way,i'm sure bethesda know's how big mammoth's were, and how to do them....no need to worry my friend :)

*Edit* Also the elks head is huge, and a mammoth tanks an elk,i believe it's part of a tusk, not a whole one. :)

Bah! Major discovery I just did!

The sitting NPC to the very left in http://download2.zenimax.com/akqacms/files/tes/screenshots/Tavern01_wLegal.jpg
...
is possibly the same NPC walking (holding something) closest to the player in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSRtYpNRoN0&feature=player_detailpage#t=87s
They have the same clothes and possibly the same hair.

And in the trailer I linked, you can see (if watching in full detail), that that NPC has elf-ears. I assume this NPC is a Bosmer.
This place was also seen in the magazines, where it said it was Riverwood.

Therefore, I come to the incredibly important and major conclusion that the NPC sitting to the very left in http://download2.zenimax.com/akqacms/files/tes/screenshots/Tavern01_wLegal.jpg
... is a Bosmer in the tavern of Riverwood! Most likely just done working concerning carrying something! Bah!

He is also under the windmill in the trailer, likely chopping wood or something. Look around 1:20.

It can't be a mammoth tusk. The curvature isn't right.

1. If you have to zoom into a shot untill it's grossly pixelated or circle something in the distance for people to spot a graphical error, then it's a graphical error not really worth worrying about.

2. In http://download3.zenimax.com/akqacms/files/tes/screenshots/DraugrGroup_wLegal.jpg check out the circular pattens on the rock, now that is pretty cool. Also, check out the two draugr hidden behind the one on the left, I've only just noticed them.

Huh? It's a tree on a pile of snow as I see it. Not really sure what you mean.

It could simply be the horn of a new monster in Skyrim. New monsters do appear in each TES game you know ^^

if you watch the trailer, it's not a pile of snow. it appears within the tree.

Nor is the curvature right for anything else I can think of. Not a walrus, not a minotaur, not any horned animal we've seen so far. Out of all the possibilities, it seemed most likely to be a mammoth's tusk. I'll just assume it belongs to some new type of creature as hlvr suggested.

I dont have screens, but compare the fire on the torch here http://download3.zenimax.com/akqacms/files/tes/screenshots/DraugrGroup_wLegal.jpg I.e Oblivion style, to the fire that burns on the ground in the dragon fight scene...

I think actually prefer the oblivion style, it looks too... super imposed? is that the word? in the dragon scene...

Hm... could be another monster then. Who knows ^^
Doesn't look like a mammoth tusk to me. They are much more bent anyway...

It's too small and the curvature is wrong. That's two strikes against it being a mammoth's with no points in it's favor. I'd go for a different or new creature, though.

And after looking at some pictures of cow horns, I found http://i.ehow.co.uk/images/a06/7k/bk/anatomy-cow-horns-800X800.jpg. That looks like a pretty similar shape to me. I think the problem is just the angle it's being viewed at.

Now compare it to http://www.joshuarue.com/mammoth_skull.jpg and it looks completely off.

Ok, I guess this is old news, but I spotted an High Elf. Trailer, the part where the "assassin" slit's some guy throat in the middle of an apparent tavern. Left of the guy with the lute...

Comment? Maybe it has been discussed already, and maybe it isn't even an Altmer, but it does look like one for me...

from the concept art... it appears that the mammoth has two tusks. One large and one lesser. You can see the lesser tusk growing right under the larger one.

So perhaps the tusk on the shelf is the smaller mammoth tusk...

It has been discussed already, but no worries, all these screenies have too!

And yes, I believe general consensus was that it is an Altmer, certainly looks like one to me.

something new! In the tavern still, the woman merchant sweeping behind the right counter seems to have more visible detail, stress in her neck, suggesting older age than the one in the foreground. I guess this indicates that the age-bar in character customization will still be a go.

You mean the little one in the concept art with the very sharp curve at the end? Something that the horn/tusk in the screenshot does not? Which makes for three strikes against it.

It's concept art buddy. Unless you can think of a better suggestion, stop criticizing mine. Besides, new info on the lesser tusks puts to waste your 'strikes' genius.
They are now null and void.
