I first played skyrim, just the regular game and got the thieves quest, and mage quest done, And had just started on the brotherhood, when I accidently uninstalled and steam was having trouble accepting my login. I got a new game, but by thrn things were cheaper so I got the legendary edition.

Now the thing is with before I was doing the main game and any expansion or DL would come later, And my character would be better prepared for some of the battles. Which are tough.

Now the question is would I be better suited, in sticking with the main story line, before I tackle anything else.

I try to do as much as I can before starting the main quest line. Since I play with all the DLC's installed, I try to tackle Dawnguard soon as I hit level 8 or 9. I'll spend my time before that exploring and adventuring, doing side quests, things like that. But this is really about preference. Some people like to get the main quest out of the way before doing anything else. It really doesn't matter in terms of combat, because it's all the same no matter what you're doing, and you'll level up either way. I have found that Alduin is a better challenge when I save him for last. Honestly when I first played the game I did all of the main quest line first and found the whole Alduin Boss Battle really a let down. But you'll progress your skill trees just easily fighting bandits or forsworn as you would fighting dragons.

The order I do each quest-line depends on the characters story. On the few characters that did Dawnguard, Dragonborn and MQ, I started with the MQ and Dragonborn and then did Dawnguard, but it's just as easy to do Dawnguard 1st... then MQ ...then Dragonborn...

Dawnguard can be a little hard at low lvl's...depending on your character's skills. Dragonborn is very very hard at lower lvl's... I try not to start it til at least lvl 20 - 25 ( Hint *spoiler*
