Skyrim should have an anime

I disagree TC.

TES anime will probably end badly.

Or worse, it would just never end.

No, anime usually has funny crazy moments even in action anime and if you take that combine it with skyrim well you might as well let frost trolls become High king.

Anime can be done tastefully, it can still have a "western" vibe and can be very maturely written... basically, as long as it stays away from the usual goofiness often seen in typical anime, and it retains an overall dark mood... I'm sure it would turn out decent.

That said, to answer thread title: No.

(in my opinion)

Like anything in our world, it depends who would make it.
One other thing, if it was done good, it would possibly bring many anime fans to notice this beautiful world of Tamriel and start playing games.

I'm not a big fan of cross-media as it's very difficult to appease the current audience and entice a new one at the same time. Although I've always wonder what a TES movie would be like and after seeing the real life version of Dovahkiin in a commercial it makes me want to see one even more. If TES does transfer into a movie/series I hope it were real people and not animated, of course that would be more expensive and difficult to pull off. I'm just a bit worried of what might happen if it were made into an Anime, mainly due to the type of stereotypical audience one may imagine, the type of people who go crazy over it and turn it into nothing more then a fad or trend. I don't want to see that happen to TES. Not saying everyone who enjoys anime falls into this category and, more often then not, most do not. I for one enjoy everything Studio Ghibli has done, aside for Graveyard of Dragonflies which was incredible sad, good but sad.

This is a good joke thread!

...please tell me this is seriously a joke? Not everything needs to be turned into a anime.

also just saw this.

I'm a Otaku, have been for years and I can tell you thats a load of crap, I can find a ton of animes that have no funny or crazy moments.

To be fair, there probably would be already a certain fan base inside the existing TES community. Go to any Nexus subsite and browse the armour category, you'll see what I mean.

Well, there are pencses too so I'm guessing it's not a sixist thing, but pure libido.

And there are hentai pictures showing up with Skyrim theme, so it's not a huge miss.

Most are either skimpy girl outfits, character models that make the PC look like a barely teenage girl, or some other form of pervsion, trust me I check the Nexus everyday for mods.

It's not realy perverted. Not that I like these abominations, I hate browsing through 6 pages full of skimpy anime BS to find one decent mod. But I can see that many people like the anime style and want to put some of it into their game. Western media is full of sixuality too. Anime is not concentrated sin, it's just different, and in my opinion pure sh*t. But if someone likes that, why not?

Your call to authority is a little weak on that account bud. Lots of us check the Nexus. Just because there are a lot of modders who use those outfits does not mean they are perverted. It means they are different. Some are actually just girls who want there character just to look sixy and deadly. Or maybe Asian girls who want something they are familiar with.

The game is built around letting you pretend to be someone you are not. If in real life you cannot be sixy and deadly because of how you were born and the way you were raised you can pretend to be that in the video game and it feels great, so it really is not all that surprising that a lot of girls actually are the ones downloading a pretty good majority of those mods. I mean sure there are those guys that download them to have "eye candy" too and fantasize and all that but that is just what they like to do.

Doesn't really bother anyone except those of us who get irritated searching for what we consider decent mods and we got to shift through what we perceive of as [censored] mods to get to them. Those people probably think the same way. They have to sift through a bunch of what they consider crappy mods to get to what we consider crappy mods. People are different. Sorry about the lecture but just because people don't like something many of them feel a need to judge other people for what they like even when what the other person is doing has incredibly minimal to no effect on themselves or what they like to do.

See opinion is fun so long as you realize it is just your own opinon. Personally I like some animes but I hate anime themed things being put into Skyrim mostly because it really really clashes with the artstyle. You put handrawn cartoon like armors in a game that tries to look realistic and it just does not work well imo. I think a separate medium with an Anime that was done well by western developers would match Skyrim very well and would be very cool. Would be a great way to introduce Lore in a different way other than books and in game events.

True it is not a gigantic miss there are certainly tons of perverted Skyrim fans who love to have nvde women and put them in all sorts of odd situations and outifts to appease their unsated lusts that stems from an intense lack of sixual activity. Does not mean most of the people who download those skimpy outfit mods are perverts. A surprising amount of them are actually girls who like to dress up in pretty outfits or whatever.

It really shouldn't. Plenty of mediocre JRPGs to make into anime (if they aren't based on anime already...), no need to bring TES into the mix.

Skyrim was the first western game to get a perfect score in Famitsu.

It still doesn't need an anime mostly due to it would end up getting destroyed and japanified, I mean look at other western things that ended up in japan.

The way i see it, anime is just an animation style. An Elder Scrolls anime wouldn't need to have an "over-the-top" storyline. Most animes tend to lean towards that type of story because that's just the way Japanese culture is. But it wouldn't NEED to be made in Japan. And it wouldn't NEED to appeal to that type of culture. It wouldn't really be that hard for Beth to find a writer that has a more western view on storytelling...

So in what way would it still be anime then? Or are you just using "anime" as a synonym for "animated"?

No, no, no, a thousand times NO! A TES anime series would RUIN it for me, because I HATE anime, and I'm sure plenty of others do too. You try to make a TES anime series, and I'll have to put an arrow in my own knee!

I think you're doing this wrong. You're looking at TES through the filter of the games. Try instead to view it as Todd and the rest of the Bethesda team imagined it.

Edit: Like, imagine if instead of being the size of one or two city blocks, the cities were as big as actual cities. Imagine if the Imperial city was as big as "Ba Sing Se?" from Avatar: The Last Airbender (Ba_Sing_Se). Imagine if all the people had real personalities. etc.
Ya feel me?

Well to be honest if we went with the basic thoughts they had, it would be better as a Movie , or Possibly a Western Animation Theme (Example:Avatar) . Because I cannot See the Jarls as Jap Anime Characters and still take ti seriously. Or any of the Nords for that matter.
