Skyrim should really try to Max consoles

people complain about how consoles hold pc back- i havent seen a game that fully uses everything consoles can do. i play on pc, and in my opinion thats the platform the game should be played on! i own a 360 with many games, a mid range pc- and my dad owns a ps3 with only a single game. maxing out a console is good for my pc- because it means that i can run the game on higher settings due to the optimisation...

Graphics does not make the gameplay suffer from not being worked on. engine coders don't generally do gameplay, just like how milkmen usually aren't nurses. even if bethesda somehow only hired jack's of all trades then they could simply hire more engine guys.

anyway- the xbox 360 can do...

cloth physics- as seen in gears of war 2 and mafia 2
detail textures- call of duty and halo
mass ai- gears of war, assassins creed and l4d
realistic weather effects- latest unreal engine
tessellated water- halo reach
godrays (we just know they will be over the top, but they look nice anyways)
that apparently extremely effective way of rendering distant objects in halo reach- halo reach
semi decent physics- half life 2
destructible physics- bfbc2 (obviously- as an open worlded game nowhere near as much things are going to be destructible, But it would be nice for a lot of objects))
SEEING YOUR LEGS (more to do with game design- but anyway)- dark messiah, mirrors edge.
Refractions - half life 2 (i am talking about glass here, but water works too)
climbing- donkey kong?

dx11 tesselation would be nice too, but thats a computer thing that hides Bethesda's modelling fails and allows people to do this to models... http://legitreviews.com/images/reviews/1117/unigine_dx11a.jpg ANKLE DESTROYING COBLE STONES!!!

lol wat, neither of those games have textures anywhere near high quality. But to be honest they might not want to add all these features on consoles because with a lack of ability to set graphical options, if they make highly detailed graphics some people may not mind a severe fps drop while others may hate it and return the game.

The limits of the consoles were reached long ago. Now, it's more about trying to squeeze in whatever you can while not going over the max, rather than trying to max them out.

As for that list, it would be nice to have those things. But with what has been put in already, I'm sort of doubting the consoles could handle it. Maybe they could, but I hope you don't mind the game only playing at 15 FPS or less.

Ok. Find an engine that does all of this. Alright, now as of right here, you become totally screwed, as no engine does all of this and has the power to render hundreds of items with havok physics/supports the detailed AI that Bethesda's engine can. Say you build the engine that can support all this. Then make a game that does all of this at once. Even the best PCs couldn't run all of this + what Bethesda does at once. No way the consoles can. Also, probably wouldn't fit on the disc unless it is a Bluray disc. Oblivion used up close to the max for a Dual Layer DVD for consoles.

Do you want to know why some games pick and choose features like these and leave out the others. Because they take the 1-3 essential things, then a few optional things, then they do some testing on consoles and add and remove to get a good balance. Notice how none of the other games had EVERYTHING on the list either. It's because they can't

By looking at the npc's hair in the ss's , it looks like they are going for high LOD bias models, hopefully in order to get more npc's on screen.
And i would take lower details in these area's , anyday ,in order to achieve a smooth running game.

having said that ,i do think skyrim will look one of, if not the best game's on console to date. and will push them to the limit.

This isn't going to end well, so I'm ending it early.
