I am aware that there may be another Forum like this but this poll is about what details you want in the war. Also If alot of you think there is not enough choices. I will add more.

Looking at it realistically, I would not expect gigantic battles. I would like them, but I don't expect much. What I'm a bit against though is the siege warfare. I don't think that sort of thing would be implemented in Skyrim type of thing, and it would restrict access to you no matter if you choose a side or are indifferent. Propaganda though would be excellent. I'm a bit infatuated by the subject myself, so it would be a very welcome addition. I expect most civil war type battles to happen in city though, since it sends a stronger word to the general public.

So long as it is a bit more epic than the 'battle' of Bruma

Propaganda and political intrigue, plus maybe a few covert assassinations, would be more interesting than a 'battle' with about a dozen Nords going at it

What i meant by epic battles is more men then Bruma. I mean How can a Dozen men fight of a hord of deadra?

IMO both sides should have both good and evil aspects to them.
It should be like voting for a president here in America... pick the lesser of two evils.
but i'm all for a third option too, if you are told to pick between them.

I like the idea of using them using propaganda to control the masses.

I think it should be like brink where both sides have a reason to fight for thier faction.

I agree. When I realized I had wasted my time on that OB gate closing quest for 16 men, I was pretty mad. Especially since they just died while I killed the daedra.

One side could be Dunmer Sympathizers and the other side could be Argonian Sympathizers
One side could be for freedom of information (including Necromancy) and the other for censorship (which would probably the empire)
the list could go on.

I just hope the war takes on an interesting and notable dynamic. TES has a history of putting important games changing themes in the background with only a random book somewhere to find out about it. "Wait what?! Your a demi god? I thought your just some guy who likes to float in temples?"

I'd like to have a city battle going on, and then have a dragon attack the city while the battle is going on. Will the armies temporarily set aside their differences and attack the dragon or will the defending soldiers attack the dragon and the attacking soldiers sit back and laugh while the dragon does their job for them?

I'm guessing the whole thing to this civil war is simple. Skyrim divided down the middle. Right side wants to secede from the empire and left sides wants to stay with the empire.

Look here...see under 'Windhelm' (right middle) it says rebel and under Solitude (top left) it says empire.

I'm just sayin' my opinion is I don't think there will be any battles, arguments etc. I think you just hear people talking trash on the other side and vice versa. Could be wrong though. And I'm not saying I would mind seeing battles or arguments, things like that btw.

I think there should be a large battle where you recruit different factions so that they help your side at the end of the game. And it should take place on a large dam.

EDIT: I re-read my post and thought it might actually sound semi-serious to some people. What I'm saying is: there shouldn't be too much of a focus on the civil war (with propaganda, battles, etc.) otherwise it may end up like F:NV - it should be more of a background thing while the main story focuses a lot more on the dragons.

The hunger for more pretty pretty graphics really makes larger scale battles unrealistic in my opinion. If people didn't demand more and more detailed models they could use less detailed models but use more of them. Either way this isn't some war simulation game so I don't think they should need to.

Scale in a video game is less than in real life. Just think of how huge the provinces are in Daggerfall compared to Morrowind and Oblivion. It's much like the world map older JRPGs use. It's not meant to be a literal scale model. The battle of Bruma was supposed to be much larger scale than depicted in the game. For me the fact it's limited in game doesn't detract from that.

Politics, clans, houses...these are what make "reasons" to fight so rich and can say a lot about a person by simply knowing what they stand for.

or just on a PC at any time... :flamethrower:

On-topic,

I wouldn't mind more battles in general, Faction vs Faction, Bandits vs Guards, etc that you can participate to help either side and either help the one you are in or help the enemy of your current faction/guild

Largest "battle" I expect is me vs Dragon in Skyrim and as in large i mean epic and as in epic i mean fun. Having 50vs50 bots IS not fun trust me I tried in Oblivion multiple times -_-

I guess it wasnt fun in Oblivion because the AI would get in you way. Hopefully in Skyrim we could have the AI notice your trying to hit an ennemy.

Well that 50vs50 lagged my computer at the time so even if they did improve the AI to recognize it still wouldn't be in the vanilla game because Bethesda is trying to give PC and console the same experience. Leaving out such a large battle wouldn't be acceptable especially if its part of the main story.

Hopefully It will happen in TES VI since It will be next gen.

Side note. I was surprised that skyrim is not on a next gen consel.

well next gen is expected in 2015, right now alot of devs are becoming "frustrated" by all the limitations they are faced with in making new games because they do not like making the same game over and over again (most anyways).. Ubisoft is the most recent one i can think of speaking out about it.

Even when next gen does come out they will only be good the first 3 years if that (which will be around the same price for a better PC) and we will go through the same exact thing as we are now..
