Skyrim Soundscape

Like many I've watched the trailer a few times - rather than get excited by the images I've been very impressed with the sound

The opening shot of gameplay running through the forest was very good - you get to hear yourself panting and hear the jangle of your equipment - the sound as the player teeters on the clifftop I'm sure I got hear an intake of breath - wonder if that was just cinematic or scripted to recognise if you pull back from a fall

While the rapids looked visually incorrect to me their sound was perfect - has anyone come across any articles on the sound engineers? I'm starting to wonder if I need a better soundcard for this game - I do have a logitech 5.1 surround system so am looking forward to being immersed in this game's sounds and maybe the neighbours will be too :)

Absolutely loved the detail of the PCs heavy breathing running through the forest. Also hope the small things like the hands being involved when stopping suddenly at the ledge is going to be in the actual game. As some may know from the threads on music, I'm not that keen on having the music on when play so that all the little details in sound/ambience is in order means a lot. I was really impressed with that in the trailer, the breathing, the equipment making noise as you move, the wind... Oh dear I'm getting the Skyrim itch again...

i agree, the sounds were superb. the sound guy(s) deserve some creds too :)

btw it must be really satisfying for the developers to see all the positive response to the trailer :) for once theyve seemed to please all of the fans on here!

Aye, the detail in the sounds is just epic. I think it'll sound amazing through my TurtleBeach.

Yes, the sound is amazing! I can't get over how good it sounds when the character is running the the trailer. Hopefully it will actually be like that in the game when we go into "sprint" mode. That's probably one of the only things that I'm looking forward to that will disappoint me if it's not in the actual game.

I remember going from Bad Company 2 back to Oblivion and I must admit that game really has really set the bar for sound design imo. I just wanted to turn up the ambient sound in Oblivion but alas you can't. It's not like Oblivion doesn't have any enviroment sounds, it does, but they are just way too quiet. I play with headphones btw.
