Skyrim Spanish coverage thread

FO:NV is same size, but with about 1/2 the map accessible, and that starts feeling a bit cramped.

1/2 of the map accessible?

Have you not played it? There are invisible walls everywhere, and not just on the perimeter.

Yes I put in over sixty hours and loved it. But the invisible walls do svck but it doesn't take up 1/2 the map. There is plenty of world to see and explore.

"Dragon priests" sound interesting. Another doomsday cult? :P

One thing that's put me at ease is that none of these European press sources seem to mention the removal of spellmaking other than the Italian ones - and I doubt Bethesda would only give information on something that important to just one magazine. So perhaps it's a misinterpretation on the writer's part.

I like the sound of these updates, although a slightly bigger game world might be nice.

I do find it staggering that Morrowind was smaller than Oblivion. Just shows what perception can do.

I think the "problem" is the draw distance - it's another reason I actually prefer to play Morrowind without MGE: it suddenly feels much smaller when you can see the whole island. Morrowind, of course, was dominated by a huge mountain, but a lot of its explorable area was inaccessible to the player - simply making it difficult and time-consuming to cross made it feel a lot better.

If memory serves me correctly, Oblivion was more-or-less the same size as Morrowind, but it just felt smaller because of how far you could see. Even walking from Leyawiin to the Imperial City was time-consuming, so it was obviously a fair distance.

I agree on this. I've actually started to play Oblivion with 'distant landscape' off. It does make a difference. I was traveling along Lake Rumare with distant land off, and it felt like I was traveling along an actual grand lake(couldn't see the other side). Then I thought I'd try enabling it again to compare, and, ughhh, there it was.. the imperial city a few hundred feet away in the middle of what now turned into a small pond :yuck: :gun:

Oblivion feels big to me. I love just getting lost in the dense forests and just wandering around.

Just got my hands on it (Micromania magazine) :D

-they talk about potion/poison making and enchanting (crafting basically) as if you'll only be able to do it in towns.

Beautiful. I always felt that I abused alchemy before in the wilderness. Glad to have it changed to cities only. :celebration:

A dev said before he was proud of what they had accomplished with clouds and fog.
I'm impressed of it too.

In the picture there are A LOT of steep mountain peaks, with trees on some of the sides. Between the mountains is clouds (or fog), giving you a mystical feeling. This confirms there are volumetric clouds of a whole new level. Possibly the best clouds/fog I've seen in a game :)
It's a small pic. But it looks very good.

I disagree. If I give a smith a hammer, the metal and tell him to make me a sword in the middle of the woods he won't be very successful.

IMO it's a good call because you have to think and plan out what you do; this is not pro-realism argument, mind you, it's about requiring the players to plan out their journeys. It's better to not be able to just craft arrows for example (this is a made up example, we don't know if we can craft arrows yet), you have to think how many you take with you. Same goes with alchemy. You can't just create health potions in a dungeon, you'll have to use the ones you have wisely.

Yeah, but what if we decide to create a home in a dungeon?
Sure it never really worked in Oblivion with the dungeons reseting, but it was fun.
I like that I don't have to be carrying the equipment to use it, but what if I want to move the equipment elsewhere?

Goodie, more juicy info!

-they talk about dynamic snow that's you'll see falling on the terrain and accumulate (yes, they said accumulate)
-dragons are scary, the earth trembles when they land
-combat is way more tactical
-they talk about while talking to people a dragon might attack and you'll see them running for cover and guards running to their posts
-the unique moves of each weapon and unique special FX of each spell make combat spectacular and vibrant

THis sounds sweet! :goodjob:

-cities will be more alive thanks to the AI
-they talk about potion/poison making and enchanting (crafting basically) as if you'll only be able to do it in towns.
-game world adapts to your playing style

Hm, this sounds slippery. We'll have to see how it works in the actual game.

Is it the same pic that's on the splash page of the Game Informer article? Because I downloaded that Micromania magazine, and I don't see anything new, it's just the same pic, recropped, but it does show more detail than the Game Informer one. It has a dragon, perched on top of some arched ruins, with the mountains in the background. Is that the one you guys are talking about?

Yes that's the one. But the one in GI is different at the same time (it's edited), since it has a blur filter, whole different colors, etc. This version of it seems more like the actual in-game shot and un-edited. It also has more focus on the landscape. And it shows more.
The GI one only shows like half the image :P

After we saw the expanded view of the city, I have a feeling that all of the pictures in the GI were that way. All magazines probably have the same images and they just choose how to process and crop them. It would be good to see the same image from all the magazines, we might be able to see more detail in one over the other.

Found...

That side view of the dragon on the statue is a screenshot? Wow.

And wow at the extra bits of landscape you can spot in the other screenshots (bits that were cropped out/covered by textboxes in the GI article, I guess).

I just downloaded the magazine. My spanish is rusty, but that won't effect my enjoyment of screenies.

While some are better quality or simply larger, there only seems to be one thing I don't recognize. There are some awesome concept arts, some of which have been shown, and many of the un-shown ones are of the player character from most of the GI screenshots.

From what little spanish I recall, there's nothing we don't already know in some capacity or another.
