Skyrim Special Edition Display Issues PS4

Post » Mon Oct 31, 2016 5:22 am

To Fellow PS4 Skyrim Players:

Many of us have been having issues where the game cuts off part of the screen (usually seen when pulling up part of the menus). Many have suggested turning off "Over Scan (aka Full Pixel, Over Draw, Fit-to-Screen depending on the TV manufacturer). This works for people who have those options however not every TV has this option and the feature is a "forced on" feature. In most cases this feature doesn't make that much of a difference and we usually don't even notice it. For most of us Skyrim is the only game that seems to be affected. For those of us that can't fix the issue due to no options on the TV, our best bet is to let Bethesda know the issue. Please comment on this post and share this with the developers so we can get a patch as soon as possible. Also contact Bethesda customer service to report the issue, every little bit helps.

To Bethesda Developers: READ BELOW

Full Issue: Part of the screen is cut off (the full screen is filled with an image however the image acts as if it's too big to be shown). No amount of PS4 or TV setting manipulation seems to change anything.

What Causes The Issue: Over Scan (usually forced with no option to turn off) feature on the TV.

Only Known Fixes: Fix via TV settings (if available), or buy a new TV.

This needs to be resolved as soon as possible. This should be easy to fix with a patch update. Check with your customer support service and other online forums regarding the issue. Many people are having this problem.

Please respond as soon as possible to this post.

I can second this!

I had the same problem wit the screen. A bit of over-scan. It will not ruin the game, but it should be fixed.

Fortunately, i have the single scan option on my TV, and the screen centers correctly.

But there is a problem on the default Skyrim screen settings.

Beth should look at it, in the next patch or whenever this would be. ;)

Thanks to the OP, for mentioning that glitch!

The game has been out for 1 day. This is Beth's baby and I'm sure they are aware of the problem. We need to give them time to address it.

First impressions are very positive. The game runs beautifully on the PS4!

I found a secondary fix for those of us who don't have a TV setting. It's a bit hokey to use but it's still a temp fix. If you stream the game from PS4 (include the chat box) and then use a TV setting relating to image (called H/V on Vizio TVs) and push the image as far as you can to the right, it actually becomes completely visible but the image is smaller (the nature of how streaming on PS4 works on your TV). Like I said, it's a bit hokey considering if you want to play the game you have to stream it (Bethesda forcing streaming! Illuminati CONFIRMED! Lol no I'm joking lol), but it does work. I can't recommend it as a permanent fix, but if you're up for playing for a few hours and don't mind someone watching, you're good to go for a bit.

And I sure hope they do patch this soon. Really it should be an easy fix on their part. On some forums I saw that people were saying Bethesda won't patch it because not enough people have the issue and that they wouldn't patch anything that wasn't game breaking (more or less, I'm paraphrasing there).

I've had this same issue myself. I really hope Bethesda gets on this quickly because while it's not really a deal breaker for this still really great game, it is surprisingly annoying.
