Skyrim Speedrun #2

Basically trying to haul your butt through a MQ as fast as possible

Oh,thank you! So is it short tracked though the MQ like they take shortcuts,so i just don't understand a 20 hour MQ being broken down to 2 hrs, without shortcuts.

Morrowinds mq took about 25-30 hours for the average gamer, longer for tes nubs, faster for tes vets.
The MW speedrun took less time than the Skyrim one, meaning there is more content. And the MW mq was beefy..
So this is good news.
Also they take ALL shortcuts possible, skip all dkalogue, and skip 99% of combat. That's how they trim off to 2 hours.

It just means there's over 2 hours of unskippable content to the MQ. That is without using extreme glitches like the Oblivion speed run glitch that fast-forwards you to the end.

Honestly, this doesn't give any real indication on the length of the MQ. For those worried that it might be short because of this, Bethesda's in-house Fallout 3 and Oblivion speedruns were twice as fast as this so I wouldn't worry too much.

I wonder if they intentionally avoid non-leveled and required boss fights at BGS so they can keep their speed runs alive.

Having to kill a very difficult boss dragon at the end of Skyrim would make speed runs very difficult without cheating.

Doesn't mean it should be possible to kill dragons on level 4 without glitches/exploits, though. Just because you know how to doesn't mean you should be able to without improving your skills.

Since someone brought up Morrowind speedruns in the previous thread, I'll say:
In Morrowind, you unavoidably had to fight Vivec and Dagoth Ur if you did a speedrun without exploits. Level 4 in Morrowind is roughly equivalent to level 10 in Skyim, as Morrowind was designed for levels 1-20 and Skyrim is for 1-50. The Morrowind speedruns I've seen exploited Fortify Intelligence potions to make better Fortify Intelligence potions, which you repeat to get buffed for thousands of points where you can then make god potions without fail.

And again we have no idea how many dragons and how they got around them, nor should we care as we'd know how to do it before the game is even out.

I don't think I like the idea of being able to avoid all dragon encounters, and have no "bosses", to get through the MQ. Non-combat ways to complete dragon encounters and stuff, fine, but they should tax your non-combat skills as much as fighting them taxes your combat skills.

No you don't.

You just have to beat up the heart

Which you can't do without Sunder and Keening, which you need Wraithguard to safely use (they damage health too fast for low level chars without it equipped). The only way to get Wraithguard without taking the time to compelte the Nerevarine trials is to kill Vivec and take it to Yagrum Bagarn (at which point it will take off 200+ from your max health, which would also kill low level chars). And the only way to get into the Heart Chamber is to beat Dagoth Ur in the adjacent room to open the door.

Also, in Oblivion you had to fight Mankar Camoran in Paradise to get the Amulet, to in turn get Martin named Emperor and trigger the final quest stages.

You can get by without Wraithguard - go watch the speed runs on youtube.

I got to choose the type of pie. Pumpkin is both delicious and seasonal.
