Skyrim starts stuttering after approx. 1 hour

Post » Mon Jun 17, 2013 1:16 am

Hello everyone,

So I've seen a 1000 pages in google about skyrim FPS and the game not running properly however none of them apply to my problem. or at least the way I see it.

I can play skyrim with no problems whatsoever in the highest ultra settings including AA and AF to maximum.

However the last couple of weeks after roughly an hour of gameplay my skyrim starts stuttering heavily in the open world.

If I get into a house or dungeon everything seems to be fine again.

Soon as I go out into the world again the stuttering continues.

The stuttering does seem to get way less when I put my view on the sky.

In any sense my hardware is perfectly capable of playing skyrim and temperatures are normal.

Specs:

Running Windows 8

Processor: I7-3820 @ 3.60 (64bit)

RAM: 12 gigs

GPU: GTX 560 Ti

Hard drives: Windows on SSD, games on normal HDD

I've already tried putting the settings lower to medium and turning AA and AF off but this does not solve the problem neither :(

This tells me though that it is not hardware related (or highly unlikely at least.)

Does anyone have any idea or possible a solution to this problem?

Thank you all very kindly in advance! :smile:

You say that temperatures are "normal" but the problem might be there. You don't say if your computer is a laptop or a desktop. You should try to clean it first. Use one of these compressed air things. ;)

What mods are you using?

That right there indicates your hardware isnt running the game very well. And while your hardware seems to be more then capable, it is odd. You might run stress tests to make sure your graphics card is ok. If the lag goes away when looking up, that is because your card is rendering almost nothing. And the fact that it returns as soon as you look back down indicates a hardware related issue.

His craphics card would be a 560m if it were a laptop. There is no 560Ti for laptops.

The problem would occur right away if it was related to mods. :)

Not necessaraly. It takes time for your systemd memory to be filled up. It could be a case of the VRAM getting full.

@ladyonthemoon

The computer is a desktop and it's clean. I got a slight OCD with keeping my system in perfect working condition lol.

@bluesnacks

I am not using any mods.

All DLC's are installed however including the high-res textures one.

@echonite

I recently did a full system test and everything but 1 hdd passed every test thrown at it.

This was just a storage disk, had nothing installed on it, and I took it out of my system straight away.

Didn't make anything faster or slower, just took it out of my system in case it fails completely and I lose files stored on it :)

Try turning off the high res textures. If that doesn't work, reinstall. If still nothing, try video drivers. Beyond that, I got nothing.
