If Alduin/Akatosh is remaking the world, then this is suspiciously similair to Scandinavian mythology, if my memory serves correctly, then doesn't the world get destroyed and two people hide in te eternal tree to get jiggy with it and repopulate the earth In Scandinavian mythos, not Skyrim

I don't really see how it's nicking more than a few loose elements without much connection that could refer to something with an awful lot of imagination.

Eh, I doubt they'd end the whole TES universe as we know it like that, but it may begin to be destroyed :)

It's from the Skyrim trailers.
Because Surt sets a fire that spreads to the nine worlds.
It isn't quite an end, it's just a purification that pulls things to a higher level and I doubt it should be seen as an actual unique event.
