Skyrim-Style Mage Gear.

So I've recently finished a third run through skyrim and again I leant towards a mage character (I've played as a breton mage, a Nord warrior and now more recently an Altmer mage).

I really love Skyrims base enchantments for mages. For those that dont know I am talking about the base enchantments for robes. For example:

Novice Robe of Destruction: destruction spells cost 12% less to cast, Magicka regenrates at 50%.

I was thinking of a simialr style for robes in morrowind. Now I am not talking about enchanting every robe or staff in Morrowind I am on about adding in NEW ones.

I am thinking a grade system like this:

Apprentice:
These robes will have a fortify magic 5pts

Novice:
These robes will have a fortify magic 10pts

Journeyman
These robes will have a fortify magic 15pts

Magican
These robes will have a fortify magic 20pts

Wizard
These robes will have a fortify magic 25pts

Warlock
These robes will have a fortify magic 30pts

That will be the base enchantment. You will then beable to find variants such as: "Novice robes of Destruction: fortify magic 5pts, Fortify destruction 5pts" or "Warlock Robes of Magnus: fortify magic 30pts, Magicka regen 2pts"

I am looking at a way to make mages more enjoyable in Morrowind, giving them access to wider magicka and also to make loot finding for mages more interesting. The enchantments will all be based around the schools of magic, fortifying magic, and magicka regen.

What do you think? Would you like to find more mage-focused enchnated robes in loot?

Mages are my favorite, so yes, I find it interesting. The only problem is that CE fortify magicka is pretty useless, since you have to re-equip it once the fortified amount is consumed. Fortify maximum magicka might not be ideal for what you want to achieve though, since it's less predictable.

I'd kill for proper spell cost reduction in MW though...

I could always use fortify intelligence as that increases magicka too.

That makes a lot of sense and it would further reward magic races who have an INT multiplier bonus.

That, or cast on use. I'm fine with fortify max magicka in small doses, though it might not play out well. At least fortify intelligence will give you a predictable amount of magicka, though it will affect other things that rely on intelligence. I had the same idea as you while I was playing Skyrim, it's just that cursed fortify magicka effect... No straight way to to do it, unfortunately.

Except the values need increasing. I would make sure it adds at least 15 to start with otherwise it simply isnt enough to be useful.

Edit: and I always thought you were an Etalien.(bad joke? hah)

Come to think of it, I think I thought of something like this already when I played Oblivion as well. I just never got around to doing it. Robes similar to the Mages Guild robes you get are much more doable, and using fortify intelligence and skill is very similar to those.

There is not regen rate in Morrowind, just regen. A standard magicka regeneration doesn't even exist in vanilla MW. It can be scripted, however, and there are a few mods to do so.
