Skyrim or Summerset Isle

No, not Summerset Isles, I fear that Bethesda ruins it with another cyrodiil-like forrest.

I don't think either of these would be fun. What made the environments of Morrowind so fun to play in was their diversity; Skyrim is all ice and snow. You could travel all the land and it would all look the same. Unlike in Morrowind, there are not very big differences within the cultures of the Nords in Skyrim, and even if they added some diversity to Skyrim it wouldn't be anything you'd never seen before. It'd be 90% Bloodmoon without Hircine, 5% Bruma, 5% Dagon Fel. It just wouldn't be interesting. Besides, after Oblivion, an Elder Scrolls game set in a place more foreign to real-life cultures would be interesting. Trudging through Cyrodiil felt like playing any other fantasy rpg churned out by the gears of low-budge game making, albeit with some lovely twists here and there. Nonetheless, the beauty of the elder scrolls world is in its relative unconventionality compared to other fantasy games. Skyrim would be monotonous and boring, and Summerset doesn't have enough of a population of foreigners, I'd imagine, to make playing as any race other than Altmer fesible. Also, no one likes them.

My vote? Elsweyr. In-game descriptions point to it as being geographically and culturally diverse, and the southern part is definitely cosmopolitan enough to have foreign presence and the political system is arcane and complex enough to provide intrigue and fun similar to the Great Houses of Morrowind.

Plus, khajiits are badass.
Joining a skooma-lord sort of faction? that'd be tite. Hunting bears in the snow? Go to Bruma. Or Solstheim. It's already been done.

Considering how lazy bethesda was with the last two games they churned out, I'm positive elsweyr would be nothing but sand with the occasional puddle of water as an "oasis". I don't see how a desert is interesting at all.

Elsweyr is described as being dry and deserty in the north and lush and jungley in the south
that's a pretty wide range of environments, quite frankly. And, obviously, no matter where they choose, if they're lazy about it it won't be fun.

And on another note, graphics aren't the only reason to enjoy a game. Morrowind's graphics are fairly unadvanced by today's standards, but the story and world are still super fun to play in. Environment design is much more important than graphic realism.

the story

the story

-_-

Sumerset Isle (because I don't like your alternate spelling), because it would, more than likely feel like Morrowind.
If it's Skyrim, I want my burning ideas implemented.

I pick Summerset.

Cyrodiil was my favorite because it had great variety. If you wanted to go somewhere that felt like Autumn, you went to Cheydinhal. If you wanted to go somewhere that made you feel like you were by the beach, you could go to Anvil. Feeling like going to a rainy forest? Go to Leyawiin.

Skyrim appears to be very cold, and constantly snowing. Even if Skyrim was picked, I'm sure Bethesda would do a great job with adding variety. I have never been disappointed before.

If I had to chose one of the two it'd be Sumerset. . . Skyrim just seems like it'd be a Solsthiem rerun.

The more I think about it, the less I want my opinion in on the deal. Not to sound too pessemistic, but I'd just assume let it be a surprise and enjoy the reality rather than get our hopes up for something that might not be. But I suppose its cool to discuss the possibilities of either place; that I'm down for.

Summerset all the way for beauty sake. I also love the idea of another island setting. If anything sounds bland its Skyrm and I love Nords im just not excited about their homeland.

So why not get over there and end their culture, as the Nerevarine did in Morrowind?

The only good point to a Skyrim location would be that my characters would get to slaughter a bunch of stupid Nords.

The real shame of it is, Cyrodiil would have been perfect for a deep and convoluted set of interwoven power plays by the various councillors, the disenfranchised nobles, and the other factions to fill the power vacuum in the very heart of the realm left by the Emperor's demise. Instead, we got a mindless "hack and slash" game. Now we're probably headed to Skyrim, which would be the ideal location for a basic "slaughterfest" game among the wolves, bears, and occasional minotaurs and frost atronachs, but Bethesda will probably over-react to all of the negative comments about OB and place an intricate web of plots and intrigue in the least "diplomatic" province in the Empire.

Would be really cool if they made the next game center around a conflict between two bordering nations, something a little more mundane than the typical "end of the world" scenario but no less important to those involved. the ultimate plot of the story could be resolved four ways based on how you play it. Either one of the two powers achieves a victory, some manner of peace is negotiated, or with the complete annihilation of both armies.

Or you could simply do your own thing and allow the war to go on in the background perpetually without your intervention.

Not only would this be a different kind of scenario, but it also allows us to explore -two- nations in one game as well as the politics and inter-relation between these nations; as opposed to just one culture to explore. Gives you more of a world sense, and less of an encapsulated by borders feel.

I'd prefer Summerset Isle, but I think it'll be Skyrim.

I think they'll do a good job either way though, so not particularly bothered.

Altmer's plural form stays the same. But it doesn't matter, 'cause I call them High Elves! 'Cause that's what they're called. High Elves.

Cyrodill - Land coverd by jungle/forest with lost ayleid ruins, and a huge magnificent tower (White Gold Tower)

Summerset Isles - Island coverd by jungle/forest with lost ayleid ruins and a huge magnificent tower (Crystal Tower)

I picked Summerset. Just 'cause IMO, Summerset Isle's terrain and all that would be more... varietized, than the mostly snow filled area of Skyrim. That's just IMO, though. I always loved the snowy areas in Oblivion, but I just think too much might get a bit old after awhile.

Exactly. Too much green gets a bit old after a while. I mean, even the damned elves are green.
At least the nords are not white, so there' ll be a bit of contrast there :P

I can't decide if I'd rather smack down rambunctious Nords or uppity Altmer first.

Oh? Despite the stereotype (particularly prominent in Morrowind), I think it's been said that Nords are just as intelligent, if not more intelligent, than the Imperials. As someone of both Celtic and Norse heritage myself, I would assume them to be quite charismatic and strong-willed. They also have the Greybeards, and I think after all of the cliche'd Talos/Akatosh crap in Oblivion (where were the aforementioned Dibella cults in Cyrodiil? Schools of Julianos?), everybody would like to mix things up a bit culturally.

Summerset Isles, or Elswyer alongside Valenwood (At war) because they both of a alien/magical/strange feel to them.
