Unfortunately, we're apparently going to see Las Vegas first. Bethesda has announced that they're doing another FO game, which will likely be released before they even begin to get serious about TES V.

Get your facts straight. Bethesda is commissioning Fallout: New Vegas to Obsidian. Obsidian is developing it, not Bethesda. Bethesda is currently working on a different, but unnamed, project, and they've been working on it since Fallout 3 came out.

Fingers crossed its TES V...

They would give it a name if it wasnt TES; but coz TES causes hype they are probably keeping it hush hush.

Skyrim is far better than Summ Isles, it have better people in it (i hate High elfs); and i would like to see were creatires in it coz i havent played MW.

I think that Summerset Isle would prove to be the better choice to have the next game set because there appears to be a larger scale of political intrigue and scheming there compared to Skyrim where the people are pretty straight forward. And although a lot of Altmer are gutless and behind cover they think they are better than most races, some Altmer awknowledges the strenghts of other races and are very humble to both learn and teach.

In that way Summerset Isle would be similar to Vvardenfell where the Dunmer are all but friendly, all the while, having internal discord in factions leaving the opportunity for an outsider to gain trust and the ability to eventually even take control.

In Oblivion there was all but no discord between the different factions, no political disturbances and no attempt to overthrow anything. In Morrowind factions were in confusion, there was internal discord and trust was lacking, everyone with a high ranking position strove for power, using their influence as best they could, making it up to oneself to help or become a problem.

I think if the game was set in Summerset Isle, we would see more of this, which would make the game more politically complicated with more decisions to make.

Finally, as someone with Viking blood (me being a swede and all(someone mentioned something similar before)) I think Nords are boring, dumb and straight forward. And although a white landscape is very beautiful at times, they quickly become sad and isolated due to lack of vegetation and animal life. I think we saw a perfect example of this in the expansion for Morrowind, just that the next time around we'll probably see more snow and less greenery

Don't just think that Summerset Isles is good for a game just because of the political possibilities. Cyrodill had many posibilities for a game world politics, but that didn't mean that the developers implented it.

snip

Check the link in my sig for what the political layout of Skyrim could be, based on what was in the pocket guide and TES Arena.

Good effort, but the leak placing V 200 years later would sigificantly change the politics. Especially without Morrowind, and the potential acquisition of Cyrodiil by a bigger ass hole than the Septims and Medes.

Personally, my favorite region for TES: V to be in, would have to be Hammerfell, I suppose.

It was written a long time before that leak thing, and I think making the next game 200 years later means they are in a creative black hole, of which no bad idea escapes.

I think it would better to group up Valenwood/Esweyr/Black March as opposed to Summerset Isles/Esweyr/Valenwood.

A noble effort. This reminds me - for some reason I would love some of Skyrim's more developed and ancient cities to have towering city walls, winding stone streets, and possibly even stone buildings - Arena style. :toughninja:

Then again, that's the last time we've been to Skyrim (haven't played Shadowkey) and that's what I expect from it. Being the ancestral home of man on Tamriel, I think it gives yet another opportunity for Bethesda to give their cities a real sense of grandeur and scale (somewhat larger than Morrowind's I'd say). Of course, this is assuming the game is in Skyrim, and this is assuming that Bethesda has learned their lesson from Oblivion.

We already had our taste of the Nords in Solstheim. Its time to move somewhere exotic. Summerset Isle is home to the Altmer and the pocket guide to the empire mentions some pretty interesting architecture like coral structures and old buildings built ontop of another. Theres definetly a potential for a new and exotic culture.

I don't understand the whole "We've seen it all in Solstheim!" argument. There's so much more than what we saw in Solstheim, and there was, what, one, maybe two Nord settlements in Solstheim? That's really not "enough Nords" to just eliminate Skyrim as a potentially interesting province.

Agreed. Solstheim also has a much more mundane climate than mainland Skyrim - there's all sorts of unique features to the land that can only be seen within the province itself.

That's my "fear", I suppose. The big bad from the previous game tends to come back after a 100+ year hiatus in hell. Which means more oblivion, and maybe more Dagon, in TESV. Speaking of Dagon, he's prominent in the Aldudaggavelashidingas, which is some of the newest Nord lore...

I personally think if they do set the next ES in Skyrim it would have to be set a few decades after The Oblivion Crisis and some sort of environmental change has to happen so that it's not just an arctic environment which alot of players will get bored of very quickly. But it could also be pretty cool if they added some sort of survival skill which emcompasses the whole game e.g. running around the mountains half naked = hypothermia/ frostbite etc.

The Altmer are a meritime people, unlike the imperials. Cyrodiil only adopted the language and pantheon of their former masters, their culture is still very much their own.

It's not that I've seen it all, it's that I've seen enough. Solstheim was fun, but I'm tired of the Nords now.

There is still a lot to see in Tamriel and I think it's time to see more from the elven or beast races.

We just had Oblivion in a human land... and this is a fantasy series. I want to see more of the fantastical races.

I am personally hoping for Elswyr or Black Marsh, but Summerset Isle would be better than yet another game with 99% humans.
