Skyrim or Summerset Isle

Shouldn't there be places in Skyrim that have permafrost? We certainly have that over in Siberia.

Where did you get the idea that the game will take place 200 years after Oblivion?

That was info that was discovered to be in the review copies of The Infernal City novel, on a plot/book synopsis page. It's unclear at this point whether that info will ship with the consumer copies of the book, and it's further unclear if it was accurate information or a publisher screw-up. I'm personally inclined to believe the former.

Until recently, I thought Summerset Isle would be the best province for the next game. Now, however, it worries me that it sounds too similar to Cyrodiil
("The island has idyllic orchards and clear pastures, still and silent lagoons, misty woodlands, and the unique Psijic architecture that seems to be as natural as its surroundings.")
so I'm thinking maybe Skyrim would be a better choice.
With the exception of the Psijic architecture, a lot of it could turn out to be like Cyrodiil's terrain.

i voted summerset isle pretty much i have gone crazy with the idea that have a ship would be awesome and having huge sea creatures would make a change from oblivion. however computers are slow and too rubbish to put it off. so i guess they will go for skyrim which sounds pretty amazing anywho.

I am almost sure that Skyrim won't be the next place. Because they have already made 2 games in the northern provinces (Daggerfall, Morrowind) while none in the southern ones. I think any one of the four southern provinces will be awesome since we have never been there. So it's either Black Marsh, Elsweyr, Valenwood or Summerset Isles.

I don't want Black Marsh or Valenwood, out of the four you listed. Valenwood is mostly forest, and Black Marsh is mostly swamp, which would be fine in itself, however, I want them to wait until they can render them better.

That can be said about any province really.

You do notice that this is EXACTLY the same argument that's used by the people who don't like Skyrim and they are shut down with "no it's not all snow and ice"?
Think about that one.

Morrowind seemed pretty swampy to me at the Southern end and had a feel for Alaska at the top. Game seemed pretty balanced for climate. I hope they do the same with the fifth game. Oblivion had a nice balance as well like this.

I say they should do a Valenwood/Elswyr game. Valenwood is a combination of deciduous and tropical forest, and elswyr has both deserts and california-esque coastal areas. Perhaps the game couls center around the aftermath of the ten-years wars detailed in Mixed Unit Tactics, where you can choose to help Valenwood or Elswyr, or foster peace between the two.

And in the beginning you can choose which province to start in. That would add replayability, becauase your choices could be different depending on what race you are and what province your in.

Between Skyrim and the Summerset Isles, I'd prefer the Summerset Isles. Through Bloodmoon and Oblivion, we got a decent look at the Nords. To date, we haven't had a really decent look at the High Elves. The Isles themselves are supposedly beautiful and I picture them similar to Greece in climate and architecture. The Altmer civilization is amongst the oldest in existence and mages have a lot of pull within Altmer culture. Plus I'd like to see navigable waterways.

Skyrim would be interesting as well. But Solsthiem and Bruma gave us an idea of Nord buildings and lifestyles. As such, I would prefer getting into fresher territory, although playing a viking-style character and raiding villages appeals to my inner barbarian.

Outsides of those two options, I think a game set on the border of Valenwood and Elsweyr would be fantastic. The Bosmer and Khajit are two cultures that we don't have much insight into, aside from scattered works like "A Dance in the Fire". Plus, having forests, deserts, coasts, and Savannah in one game is exciting.

Yeah, that's also what I would like to see. Though my favorite race is Altmer but this idea sounds much better than playing in just one province. I have always fancied Elswyer like the wonders you would see in Arabrian knights and that kind of stuff. Anyway this combination will have a lot of storys to tell, focus on the some underrated races, and extremely exotic and dynamic as well.

True, but those two provinces seem to have the most potential to me to be great.

Hard to choose because both places would be great for the next game. But if I had to choose it would be Skyrim.

This is simple.
Skyrim = snow, ice and mountains.
Summerset = magic, cultural cradle, altmer, exotic nature... Did I say magic?

I would say Skyrim as i prefer Cold above Heat, but its just only Solstheim x1001. Summerset isle is just abit TOO Futuristic if we look at the other Provinces. Valenwood + Elseweyr (and maybe Black Marsh to :D) would make THE PURRRFECT GAME!

Valenwood + Elseweyr

I have to agree with Aerkhan. I'd really like to see that, though I'm not sure Bethesda would do that because that would mean one less possible game (If we assume each game is to only be in one province.) Though I'm not sure either province would be big enough for a full game.

As for the poll, I too would rather wait until they have the technology to make Summerset Isle the best it could be. We don't have to worry so much about technical limitations with Skyrim. I honestly wouldn't want to see it there though, like I said, I'd prefer Valenwood and Elseweyr. But out of the two, I choose Skyrim.

They made a full game with just Vvardenfell...

And why do people keep saying that, "Skyrim will be just snow, ice and mountains. These three things are bad"? What is so wrong with playing a game that is set in a cold climate? You liked Bloodmoon didn't you?

I definitely say Elsweyr, Khajiit seem to be the most mysterious race and id love to know more about them and see all the different types. But if its just between Skyrim and Summerset I'd go with Skyrim (even though I'd still love to see Summerset).

Skyrim has a huge diversity geography and climate according to lore, but I much rather go to the Isles but something tells me that we're going to Skyrim instead.

I would like to see a game taking place somewhat in the other continents, maybe search the remains of Yokuda or visit Pyandonea and the Maormers.
Akavir probably would be a good place. You were once a cabin mate on-board a fishing vessel. A storm appears suddenly and you find yourself washed ashore an unknown land. You are first heading to find some of your fellow shipmates and... enh.
