Skyrim Swag for your Xbox 360 avatar

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 12:54 am

Hey all,

Oblivion came out too early in the Xbox 360 lifecycle for Bethesda to realize the demand for/have time to implement Oblivion-themed avatar options. With Fallout 3, they were able to implement a few choices that, in my opinion, were pretty good (my avatar is still wearing his Vault 101 jumpsuit). While I'm still a huge fan of the Fallout universe, my heart remains with TES. I've been desiring for quite some time to see my avatar rock a set of Elvish armor weilding a bow. Or maybe Ebony armor weilding Umbra. Or maybe wearing arcane robes with one hand bursting into flames, the other sending out electrical lines in all directions. You get the point.

Anyway, while I'm sure this topic has been tackled already, I couldn't find an active thread. Would love to hear your ideas on whether you want this and what options you'd like to see if you do.

PC and PS3 users: not trying to block you out, I just game on the 360 and am not familiar enough with your platforms to determine an appropriate anologue. If you can think of something, would love to hear the ideas here as well.

Armors and apparel would be cool but there won't be any weapons, avatars are "not supposed to promote violence" or some [censored] like that.

Avatars can have lightsabers, do those not count?

They can always add on to stuff like this after development, like what they did for Fallout 3, most games are like that anyway, hence why a lot of games rely on updates. :P

I would definitely like something, perhaps Skyrim theme T-shirts, perhaps the Dovahkiin armour seen in the trailers and what not, perhaps a small dragon.

I agree with you. I don't think it would take away from development time as it seems these things are add-ons near or after the game goes gold. Of course, I'm not a game developer and who knows what Beth does there.

But I think it'd be a fun little joke to have the option to get a small dragon as a prop that flys around and spits out small flames. :flamethrower:

Yeah didn't realize the whole violence rule, but my mind immediately jumped to the lightsaber you can buy. Maybe we can reposition the viewpoint here..."No Microsoft, it's not a sword. It's a letter opener. The character needs it to...um...open the Elder Srolls. Lots of scrolls to open..."

If it's attached to achievements, then hell yeah! But if it's up in the avatar marketplace, no. No thank you.

I just find it sad that people actually pay real money for stuff like this anyway.

If they do this while they are Bored or have power to spare off to something else without being detrimental to current projects AFTER Skyrim is released, sure why not. otherwise no, get ass working on FO4 and some expansion packs for Skyrim so I can buy the hell out of them.

I find things like avatar gear a total waste of money because its completely useless but if it were an award for completing the game or something that would be cool then I would totally rock the dovakiin armor from the wallpaper on my avatar.

Well gamesas wouldnt be the ones "wasting their time" it would be the people who actually make the avatar stuff...

(Which is a seperate company in england, who works directly for microsoft, and who actually designed the avatars, and the avatar games and such, if Im not mistaken...)

Do you want to see Skyrim-themed clothing/accessories?

Don't care either way

What options would you like to see?

Other (as in idc)

What is the most you'd be willing to pay, assuming you got an option you want?

0 Points

Would you like in-game achievements/feats be awarded with avatar swag?

What the hell sure... why not.

I appreciate it when a developer allows gamerpics or avatar items to be unlocked via achievements - I have collected some digital props for my avi and haven't minded paying extra for them - they are just another collectible but one which doesn't take up shelf space.

The armour and some spell effects would suit me - though the spear idea was very funny - perhaps they'll have a unicorn as a prop, or let the avatar levitate.

"What option would I like to see?" I voted other because I really don't care. I wouldn't spend a dime over a silly avatar. Achievements that unlock avatar gear? Sure, why not.

I would probably buy something for my avatar, as long as the prices don't get to high. There was not anything for your avatar from OB, because the avatars did not even come out till like 3 yrs after the game.

Horse Armor.

 What? I'd actually consider buying it. I'd at least laugh at it.

The horse itself would costs extra, of course.

Actually it would be funnier without the horse lol just the armor sitting next to the avatar
And it would be equally useful as it was in OB
