V.A.T.S in skyrim

Post » Thu Oct 20, 2011 2:49 am

Would you like to have a sort of vats from fallout but done in skyrim, like maybe its called dragon sense and you can freeze time and locate a part of the body and attack it? discuss below

I wouldn't like it, Fallout had it because it makes similar to the Turn-based originals, Elder Scrolls has always been rather real-time in terms of combat so... It wouldn't fit.

The VATS was stupid to me, it would look ridiculous in Skyrim.

VATS I don't care much for (at least not in TES). Now, damage to different parts of the body, like gimping the enemy by firing an arrow or fireball at it's leg? That would be cool.

Yeah, I'd love to pause the game during combat every ten seconds

No. The only reason to use the over-powered VATS in FO3 was because real time shooting svcked so bad with the Gamebryo engine. It made more sense in the old turn-based games, if you played those.

Definitely not. Even after I got used to VATS in Fallout, I still found it kinda annoying and pretty absurd.

Wait, people actually use V.A.T.S? Anyway, no. I do not want it in Skyrim or any TES to follow, I can actually aim on my own and use my own skills to get the job done.

I apologize if that sounded condescending, but I just hate the concept of "here let me hold your hand and do your job for you".

Pretty much this. Locational damage would be much welcomed by me, but I don't see a need for any VATS style combat.

I'd say a no for the VATS in TES, but I wouldn't mind seeing locational damage included. :tops:

Definitely not! But, you just made me think of something which would perhaps be interesting...

I'll try describe what I'm thinking as best I can. Imagine a function that allows you to slow down combat for a small period of time, and during that time the mouse becomes somewhat of a paintbrush with which you can plan slashes, jabs, or even blocks and direct them - having different keys to hold while painting for different attacks - by drawing the point of contact. You could limit the amount you can draw depending on speed, weapons types or such, with other stats effecting how much time was slowed and how long it lasted.

Eh, I'm liking this thought, but not really for Skyrim as much as just a nifty combat idea, either way that would be the closest thing to VATS I could see MAYBE working.

I would be pissed if there was a VATS system since its only ties into Fallout lore
