Could you imagine if Bethesda had implemented this system into the game & took a look at this topic.

Ouch.

OMG?! WOULD YOU LIKE SOME KETCHUP ON YOUR CHOCOLATE ICE-CREAM?

HELL NO.

Some epic combo moves would be cool, tho...

If i can see an arrow i shoot fly through the air in slow-mo into the face of an unsuspecting bandit, then heck ya, that would be sweet, but i dont think it would work to well

It's not because you want a cinematic mode *LIKE* V.A.T.S that you are a "Fallout Recent". It's kind of sickening seeing people looking down on Fallout just because those were the last games released.

5 years from now we'll have people look down on "TES V" whenever Fallout 4 is on the verge of coming out.

Oi...Your sentence made no sense to me lol, you don't even know what I mean by Fallout recent, its not even a used term, I wasn't looking down on anyone who likes FO and at the end of my Post I did say HE WASNT A FO RECENT.

now lets clarify what I meant by FO recent.

someone who 1. first FO experience was FO3 2. joined this forum because of FO3 and had not deviated from beyond that section of the forum 3. because of their enrapture with FO series like wise used terms specific to that series in another series effortlessly in esssense somewhat ignoring the fact that their are people who have NO idea was VATS is.

Like I said he could have used a different terminology for Slow-motion combat, I am addressing the title of the thread and former details before he edited everything, frankly this is not that big of a deal and I dont intend on bashing him.

I HATE slow-mo finisher's unless there is an option to turn them off.

They break immersion and sometimes get me killed if there is several enemies.

I like the way you put it, OP. I'm cool with that, yeah. VATS was bad ass too watch, I'd love to see it in Skyrim. Maybe a certain button combo or something like that. One that you would have to learn from a trainer or something like that.

For instance, if you wanted it, you'd go to a trainer. Well, this trainer teaches you how to use the bow from far away (VATS Stylo) but the enemy has to be a certain distance away and you have to throw down that button combo to use it.

Once again we are talking about an option its not something you would have to use, most of you sound like my niece she hates onions to the point that she dont think anyplace you go should even give some1 else the option of having them,....... should all optional types be left out of the game so only people with pc's have the option to download mods and patches with them,... my suspicion is most of the voters so far are hackers and slashers, because those types wouldnt benefit greatly from such a system anyway just like in fallout 3,... no we are referring to a system that would mainly benefit mages/archers/spearmen types and nothing to the extreme like VATS specifically.

So I've edited the poll question again to clarify a few things... I'm sorry for the misleading title. I had no idea this was such a hot-button issue. I just wanted to gauge your guys' opinions on the topic. I didn't know I was gonna unleash a firey storm of rage from most you... I'm actually pretty surprised more people don't want some sort of cinematic combat implemented. Remember, like fast travel, just because it's there doesn't mean you have to use it. And I'd appreciate it if we could keep things a little more civil in here from now on. Come on people, we should be f-ing celebrating... TES: V was just announced yesterday... These are happy times. And I know Skyrim's gonna be amazing, whether it has cinematic combat or not...

This could be done lore-friendly. Call it Intense Focus instead of VATS, have it cost Magicka or Fatigue on top of the Magicka and Fatigue costs of your spells or attacks. SO I voted "Depends how it's implemented"

VATS, NO! But slow motion finishing moves, such as in Dragon Age, I'd be OK with that.

No, no, no. Or any slow-mo/time-freezing gimmick. It worked in Fallout 3 because it was always a part of Fallout, but the combat system in all previous TES games is completely different.

Didn't read any of the previous comments, but my answer is no. I rarely used VATS in FO3(because the shooting system seems laggy and awkward so I needed it occasionally, might just have been me though) and almost never in FONV(Iron sights ftw)

I enjoy the real-time aspect. No slow-mo, no pauses, just fight or run and hide.

Hell to the no. Focus on making real combat fun, please.

Mhm. I hated VATS in Fallout 3 and never even used it in New Vegas, since they were nice enough to actually let me aim down my freaking sights!

I just cant understand why some of you, heck most of you dont even want it as an option even if its not VATS but something just a little like it, we are talking about an option after all, do you really have so little willpower that an option has to be used ? fast travel is often argued about the same way as you all are freaking over this, and its been an option in one form or another since the series began almost 20 yrs ago and I have almost never used it since I love to explore all the nooks and crannies of the games, actually kinda mad they removed the being rudely waked up from sleep because something stumbled upon me while sleeping as that was realistic I thought.

Perhaps not V.A.T.S. in its Fallout 3 format, but a system resembling it could work. It would just require more limitations and tweaks.

I for one would like to see it become a quicktime event between a monster and an NPC. If you give the ability for any opponent to be able to initiate "VATS," I think it would be a welcome addition to the gameplay. Imagine a slow motion exchange of blows that require a specfic input of characters, keys, and commands. If you can execute it within the slo-mo sequence, you pull off a special attack, and if you cannot, you instead get punished/killed.

Quicktime? If you want quicktime events then go play some nintendo games, TES is a role-playing series, i dont want to be killing a monster then have a floating button pop up in my face and get killed if i dont press it :shakehead:

No because it will add more space that could be used for more cooler weaponry and armor. I don't wanna lose a Daedric Artifact because we had to add animations that have no business in an Elder Scrolls game.

That is ridiculous no game has lost anything due to added animations, they have yet to push the boundaries of what they can put onto the game disks, no matter whats been stated to the opposite, since much of it has to do with the gaming engine itself.

VATS, no. A slow-motion potion/spell that allows you to also target specific regions of the enemy, yes.

Maybe a time slowing spell, but thats it, I just don't think a VATS type system lends itself to TES gameplay

That sounds like a good compromise. I think that the VATS system as-is just seems a bit too futuristic for TES. Seeing as that would be a pretty powerful/handy spell to have, I think it should be one that only the masters could get though.
