V.A.T.S. In Skyrim?

Post » Wed Mar 17, 2010 2:46 am

Wow. A resounding no... Maybe I'm crazy, but I'd love to see an arrow go through a bandits eye in slow motion... Or a fireball rip off a dude's arm...

Dude, they just released Fallout: New Vegas, you have to understand that TES fans have been waiting 5 years for their next game, they don't want any Fallout elements included in it.

Those example you're giving, the arrow through the eye and fireball ripping off someones arm, those are examples of Fallout's over-the-top gore which TES doesn't have.

A timed slow motion combat mode that might make it a bit easier for me to use my weapon or aim my bow?.
Hell yes.
The main problem I had with Oblivion were parts where allies would run smack dab in front of my bow or sword stroke... I'd fire at an enemy.. and yet hit a comrade. It was worse in tightly packed close combat. I'd have to re-load multiple times because I killed companions or allies.. or hit them too many times, pissed them off and then they'd kill me. Had the problem a bit with Morrowind also but it didn't seem as bad.
So yes.. anything to make the control of the weapon feel like I'm actually controlling it better.

No, I really just want to keep TES away from fallout as Fallout is a bad influence on TES, believe it or not, Fallout convinced TES to break into the local state park with him because it was cool!?!? Stay away Fallout!

No! But the Deadly Reflex mod for OB has some great ideas for combat, and the game does go into slow motion for the move finishers.

I would not like to see it. I think that there could be an option to turn on cinematic when you get a critical stealth kill or you cut off a limb but other than that, NO!

Well it wouldn't work well in its current form, mainly because The Elder Scrolls games are melee-centered and the Fallout games are ranged-centered. However, I wouldn't mind seeing a slow-motion kill from time to time.

NO VATS in my TES!

I love VATS to the point of having had playthroughs where I only used VATS and had to run away to replenish my AP in the middle of combat but I do not want it in my Elder Scrolls games. It needs to stay in Fallout. K? Thanks :)

Sorry if this comes off as dikeish, but who the hell are you to tell me that I'm not an Elder Scrolls fan? I'm a HUGE Elder Scrolls fan. I don't even really like Fallout all that much. I haven't even played NV and the only reason I played Fallout 3 is because Oblivion is my favorite game of all time and I love Bethesda. I've been waiting for the Elder Scrolls just as long as you bud. I simply like what Fallout 3 did with slow motion style combat and I think it would work well in future Elder Scrolls games...

BTW I dont think we are talking actual VATS here anyway just a sibilance of that type of thing ( more an advanced aiming thing that maybe only available to masters in their field) remember all you sword welders that magic and arrows and spears are considered a step forward from bare arms tech such as swords / hammers/ axes, so I dont think we all gonna need a pip boy tech attaching such things to us . Wouldnt it be nice to make master archer and be able to let fly 3 arrows in fast succession at some enemies arm or leg ?

I think people need to take a chill pill here. Obviously OP didn't mean to implement the same V.A.T.S with the percentages and the high-tech display. He's asking if we would like to see, on top of normal combat, a more cinematic combat... it doesn't even need to pause the game.

I think it would be great to have, for instance, a camera following the arrows I'm firing whenever they do critical strikes or something.

I have been a fan of TES since Daggerfall. It seems people get in an uproar because TES V just got announced and now Fallout is the bastard child.

Honestly, you don't think this could be part of the TES universe?

I said No.
That would be some sort cross between the Fallout Universe and The Elder Scrolls' Universe.

Do you really want the people who say "This is Oblivion with guns" to win!?
sides just cause it works for Fallout does not mean it will work for a game "like" Fallout

Maybe it's just me, but some kind of V.A.T.S. / bullet time in an Elder Scrolls game would feel ackward at best, imo.
For Fallout 3, it was only natural that they included V.A.T.S. since the aim mode was always part of Fallout from the very beginning.

Do not mix Fallout and Oblivion, that would [censored] up the game. And really, Bethesda won't do it.

This is why I'm glad fans are not in charge of making the games and people who objectively gauge the popularity of certain features are making the game. The folks at Bethesda are wise enough to learn from what's around them even though it never was in the TES universe before.
