V.A.T.S. In Skyrim?

Post » Wed Mar 17, 2010 1:38 am

So what do you guys think... Do you want Bethesda to introduce something similar to Fallout 3’s V.A.T.S. system in TES V: Skyrim?

I think it would be awesome with bow and arrows as well as magic, but it might be hard to do for melee attacks, which looked really weird in Fallout 3... So my answer would have to be yes, but only if it's done right.

EDIT: I think people may be misunderstanding what I'm asking... I didn't mean do you want Bethesda to pick up V.A.T.S. and plop it in TES V: Skyrim exactly as it was in Fallout 3... I'm asking if you guys want to see some sort of slow-motion style cinematic combat in Skyrim. Not V.A.T.S., but something like it...

EDIT 2: I changed the wording of the poll question because everybody's being so sensitive.

NOTE: I am first and foremost an Elder Scrolls fan. I love the series and consider Oblivion my favorite game of all time. Although I enjoyed Fallout 3, I am NOT a Fallout fanatic... I've never even played New Vegas...

EDIT 3: I reworded the poll question a third time for better clarity.

NOTE 2: I know what V.A.T.S. stands for. I know it's exclusive to the Fallout universe. I'm asking if you'd like to see something similar. Sorry for the misleading title...

God, no. I would hate to see Fallout merged with TES, let's keep them seperate, besides, a V.A.T.S system in a TES game wouldn't work anyway.

Holy crap, no. This is a WRPG, not a JRPG where weird, out of place stuff can be implemented.

Absolutely not.

V.A.T.S. worked fine in Fallout 3 because it was an already established concept in the franchise. I don't see it having any place in TES V.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! It's fine for fallout, but for TES that is a definite no. it just doesn't fit, never will.

No VATS please. Fallout 4 will be released eventually. Work on improving combat to make it even more realistic.

No! But the Deadly Reflex mod for OB has some great ideas for combat, and the game does go into slow motion for the move finishers.

VATS is a system specifically built around ranged combat. Most of the combat in the TES games is not ranged. That... sort of answers this right there.

Perhaps not V.A.T.S. in its Fallout 3 format, but a system resembling it could work. It would just require more limitations and tweaks.

I for one would like to see it become a quicktime event between a monster and an NPC. If you give the ability for any opponent to be able to initiate "VATS," I think it would be a welcome addition to the gameplay. Imagine a slow motion exchange of blows that require a specfic input of characters, keys, and commands. If you can execute it within the slo-mo sequence, you pull off a special attack, and if you cannot, you instead get punished/killed.

The only concession is that it cannot be as frequent as it was used in Fallout 3.

No (of course not); but I would like to see the VATS kill cam system incorporated into the high level spells (ala http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?app=forums&module=forums§ion=findpost&pid=16786930, eh?).

I almost used an online translator to look up how to say no in ten different languages. But I'm lazy, so in English,"NO!"
