Quick! Somebody invoke Godwin's Law!
I already did that in another thread today. Actually, I think I might have broken it. Or at least dinged it up a bit.

i feel bad for the person trying to defend fps .....not worth their time
FPSes can be and have been great. I can't imagine anybody back in the day that didn't find Doom intensely addictive, immersive and downright scary.
Yeah, this is exactly what how I feel. Call of Duty crack = too easy on these forums. Make a real joke. When it got down to the real jokes, you could see he wasn't witty. Funny you mention Civ because I just recently downloaded Civ4 and haven't played it since 1. I was thinking at how much of an accomplishment the original actually was in it's time.
Well, I actually liked the OP. I just see a ridiculous amount of CoD hate on these forums, and I haven't heard anything bad about those games from people who actually play them.
Regarding Civ, it was fun to play all of them. I started with the original and played every version since, including similar games like Call to Power, Alpha Centauri, and Master of Magic, a game I've made reference to here at least three times because version 1.0 was so unplayably buggy. Master of Magic is still worth playing today, as a matter of fact. The graphics are definitely of its time, but it's one of the most engaging and deep turn-based strategy 4X games ever made. Civ V is pretty good, and has excellent graphics, but
man a game can take a long time. I've actually heard people say they think Civ IV with all the expansions was superior to Civ V, but I'm not sure about that myself. Both are excellent.
When I read the initial post, I was hoping for some funny and/or witty responses. I was sorely disappointed.
Yeah, people are just more concerned with getting their two cents in on the "I love Skyrim" versus "I hate Skyrim" wars. We should call one side the Imperials and the other side the Stormcloaks, just for the hell of it.
I doubt any of the people that got the joke are anti-FPS elitists but it's a known fact that CoD games do not change at all and they always seem to attract the same sort of people and it turns possible new fans away from the series and not to mention that the gameplay never changes, to be fair CoD should be a rail shooter because it takes absolutly no skill what so ever.
Well, I haven't played a CoD game in a while, but lots of people say they're excellent games and I haven't played an FPS except for Halo in quite a while.
Hey, someone else gets it! Welcome to the party! It's rather empty in here, isn't it?
A-yup.
