Skyrim the best RPG of all time. : V

Of course we can't tell yet, but I think this has a very good shot at being one of the all time great RPG games,GOTY, maybe even the best.
What other RPG(s) do you think is the best game so far in the genre? It can be anything, open world, futuristic, just any game that might be standing in Skyrim's way. I'll start...

Final Fantasy 12
Oblivion
Mass Effect 1 and 2
Jade Empire
KotOR
Morrowind
Dragon Age

Way too early to tell and mentioning Oblivion without giving any mention of Morrowind is definitely opening this up for some kind of battle.

Personally, I think Morrowind is the best TES game and the best open-world RPG.

I also liked a handful of Bioware's games from the last decade, like Mass Effect 1 and 2, Jade Empire, the first KotOR, etc.

well of course it is, for one, recent game developers that categorize their games as a "RPG" make me laugh sometimes...
I'm not calling any names, but some claim it to be an RPG yet they say it is, but doesn't even meet the characteristics of an RPG. As for Skyrim i think it's quite convincing that it will be a real RPG, i may be wrong but we'll find out but i am expecting it to be the best RPG i have ever played.

Maybe for the next year or so, but then there will always be some game that will come out and it will be better then Skyrim. And then another game will come out and be better then the game that was better then Skyrim. And THEN there will be another game that comes out that will be better then the game that was better then the game that was better then Skyrim. ANNNNND THEN.......... I can't go on anymore... I am lost in all the games that are better then the better ones..

Let's not actually. The OB -vs- MW battle is beyond old at this point. They really should just shut down threads soon as they stray there.

As for Skyrim I have high hopes it will be my #1 favorite game of all time, Oblivion has been taking that title for a long time now. :tes:

Morrowind and Kotor. Baldur's Gate was always considered one of the best as well. Personally JRPGs are generally not worth my time

Morrowind is hands down the best game I have ever played.
In sheer freedom, options, content and customisability it has yet to be beaten.
Oblivion was a darn good game, perhaps the best of its generation.

None of the others you mention come even close. There is such an enormous gap in quality and replayability between the two TES games and the others, they dont even belong on the same list.

Arguments by themselves are not against the rules. Flaming is against the rules. Mods are also liable to lock arguments that are off topic (such as one that would come from this thread), or rehashed arguments like Morrowind vs. Oblivion.

what the hells peoples issue with oblivion :thumbsdown: it was a very good game sure the story was bad compared to you know kind of being a reincarnated elven hero who is meant to stop an evil immortal fiend who is the leader of a lost evil great house. and some of the faces looked plain freakish but the combat was good the graphics where great for its time it had humor at some points (mostly at the expense of the entire bosmer race) and tyhe level scaling nearly crippled it. but still dont knock oblivion sure in a few peoples opinion it was horrid but know this it is still above most other games of its kind *cough* especcialy the entire fable series *cough*

Heh, im not targeting just bioware... They are already getting alot of bad comments. I hate to say it, but i feel sorry for them.
