For next-generation consoles? I doubt that. They don't really need just as much RAM as a PC to achieve the same things and 8 gbs is kind of pushing it for a modern PC, isn't it?

At least 8 gb's would be future-proof. And that would mean that all games would be 64-bit, which is a nice step forward.

Next gen will be releasing late next year if it doesn't no games would even be released other then companies such as Activision with COD repeats. Assassins Creed revelations is the last game on current generation and Ubisoft already stated if they MS and Sony did not release a new gen they would go PC exclusive because the current hardware is holding them back too much.

but AC 3 is supposed to release next year. oh God... it's happening i'm doomed :obliviongate:

I'm happy with the alternating TES/Fallout timeline Bethesda seems to be on. It keeps things fresh. I was thinking that Fallout 4 would be Bethesda's last PS3/360 game, but now it looks like it'll be a launch/early next-gen game. If that's the case, they'll have a chance to learn the hardware with Fallout and perfect it with TES VI.

as I said AC revelations (AC3) will be the last game from Ubisoft on current hardware if the 360 is around a year after that they will go PC exclusive..

8GB is not that much and Ram is cheap now days.. more the marrier because if they put 4GB the console would go out of date in lesser time then 8GB

Regardless, I'm worried about how the next-generation consoles will turn out. They're going to intentionally want them to be cheap... otherwise everyone will just go for the Wii-U or whatever else is the cheaper console. At the game time, they've got a hardware bar to pass. As is proven by the PS3's launch price of $500 or $600, people won't initially go for a platform just because it's got some new tech in it if the price is higher than the competition, so what can we expect from Sony and Microsoft?

P.S. 8gbs of RAM? That doesn't translate directly into 16 times the texture resolution capabilities of a current gaming console, does it? :P Regardless... 8 gbs... I'm going to love the next console generation if that's the case.

Yup :D. Which will mean Fallout 4 will be on the next gen :celebration: (fingers crossed Obsidian is developing it again).

NO!!! bethesda should make it FNV is horribly glitched. i lost my file with 70 hours on it and other people have lost more. beth should make it and make it without game breaking glitches.

Ubisoft gains +20 karma (exactly the amount they lost because of their abusive DRMs).

Can't wait to see multi-platform/big budget games that take full advantage of and optimized for current PC hardware in a few years. At least to a greater extent than they already are. Skyrim is a prime example among other games coming out this year, of how far we've come in this generation. I hope the industry will focus more heavily on creating great stories and environments.

EDIT: Can't wait to hear some stuff about Fallout 4. I hope it's going to be very different; just bigger and more complex in general.

Finally we'll get games that take full advantage of and optimized for current PC hardware.

It's official, then. The console generation has passed by without developers taking full advantage of 4 1/2 year old PS3 hardware. What a shame...

One can hope...

Whatever you call it AC rev is the last AC game consoles will be getting if MS and Sony do not release (or officially announce) the new gen release date by December of next year.

That's $50 extra on top of a price that they are already going to want to keep as low as possible. Sony just cut the Vita's RAM in half to keep costs down.

My bets go with Fallout:4 being the next game made by Bethesda and on new consoles and I am also betting these new consoles will push us into a whole other realm in gaming. I can't imagine how it will be. I also bet those new consoles will cost a bundle when they come out and that once again I will opt for a new processor and graphics card rather than spend it on that new console. It happens everytime. I'll be almost ready to throw in the towel and get myself a console and bam, the price of the new consoles vs the cost of an upgrade almost matches. I go for the upgrade every time.

Maybe this time, I won't.

I'm not so sure about that statement. Sure, PS3 CPU is decent even by today's standarts, but it's GPU and RAM amount aren't.

How much money do they save by cutting a mere 256 mbs of RAM?
