Skyrim the last Bethesda Games Studio game on 360/PS3

Post » Mon Aug 08, 2011 6:38 pm

NO!!! bethesda should make it FNV is horribly glitched. i lost my file with 70 hours on it and other people have lost more. beth should make it and make it without game breaking glitches.

it couldnt really be helped, they had less than a year of development time and the engine was outdated. With new hardware and longer development time there will be much less glitches (just a guess). Besides, Bethesda might end up removing some more stats and might get rid of S.P.E.C.I.A.L . Fallout New Vegas outsold Fallout 3 anyway, it would be insane not to bring back Mr. Chis Avellone or J.E sawyer atleast.

My bets go with Fallout:4 being the next game made by Bethesda and on new consoles and I am also betting these new consoles will push us into a whole other realm in gaming. I can't imagine how it will be. I also bet those new consoles will cost a bundle when they come out and that once again I will opt for a new processor and graphics card rather than spend it on that new console. It happens everytime. I'll be almost ready to throw in the towel and get myself a console and bam, the price of the new consoles vs the cost of an upgrade almost matches. I go for the upgrade every time.

Maybe this time, I won't.

call me crazy but I want TES 6 :P

That's $50 extra on top of a price that they are already going to want to keep as low as possible. Sony just cut the Vita's RAM in half to keep costs down.

There going to undersell their product will it be better then my current rig? no will it come close not at all. RAM is the cheapest part of a computer so going spiffy on it wouldn't be smart.. how are they going to make up the money that they undersold? Same way they have been for every generation adding tax to each game that releases on such. Next gen games will be $70 minimum for consoles

I'm not so sure about that statement. Sure, PS3 CPU is decent even by today's standarts, but it's GPU and RAM amount aren't.

Aye, but my PS3's precious SPEs have still never been touched except by a Killzone 3 demo and Uncharted 1 and, more thoroughly, 2. Multiplatform developers... they aren't preying on the PS3's main strength. Nearly everything is an inferior 360 port... poison in my PS3's veins.

How much money do they save by cutting a mere 256 mbs of RAM?

I'm not entirely sure. It's something i'd like to know as well.

Most likely, Next Fallout prob won't be with us until 2013 at least maybe 2014 and I suspect the next gen will be with us then. *Fingers crossed*

Its a little early to say how much the Devs have learned from Fallout 3, but Im very hopeful that Fallout 4 will serve as a testing ground for TES VI on the next gen of consoles.

Based on what little info we have it seems like Skyrim is really building off of BOTH Oblivion and Fallout... which is great. Hopefully they'll use the same learning process to make a non-launch Elder Scrolls Six on the Xbox Three.

I hope so... or they go with the BF3 idea of making it for PC then cutting what needed to be cut to fit it on counsels. sorry counsels but if your machines are falling behind why drag progress down with you.

Maybe, but the SPEs are a part of the PS3 CPU. And in a good game, the CPUs are already overloaded enough (the game itself, AI, physics, even some GPU management..) in order for a weak GPU to rely even more work on them. So I don't precisely like the PS3 in that matter either.

Besides, 512 mb of RAM? Come on.

They won't change SPECIAL in Fallout for the same reasons that they won't get rid of Khajiit and Argonians as playable characters. New Vegas sold well because Fallout 3 had such critical acclaim. Sequels of great games always seem to sell better.

As for Chris Avellone.... if Bethesda were to somehow ever snag him from Obsidian, there would be no stopping Bethesda. A Todd Howard/Chris Avellone developed game would pretty much put everything else to shame. Planescape: Torment quality story and dialogue in an Elder Scrolls game world. Of course, he probably won't leave Obsidian for anything, so I can only dream.

PC gamer here so it doesn't matter much to me, but I would say overall it's a good thing for new technology to come along.

Yeah, I actually think it will be cheaper just to upgrade your PC than to buy a new console. It still amazes me how much people paid to get their hands on the PS3 or Xbox 360 when they first got shipped out. The console will probably be an equivalent to a $700 computer today, but it's main purpose will be to play video games, movies, and connect people through those experiences. I also hope that with how much time we have invested in this current generation, that the transition will be very smooth, with some good quality games coming out right off the bat.

I also think that Microsoft is still heavily invested in the Xbox 360 and will continue to support it for a few more years. It will probably be a great platform for indie/arcade games to release their content and to experiment with what can be done with the Kinect. It's still a great entertainment system, and it will most likely drop down to about $99-$120 in a year or two.

Oh, I agree the RAM is pitiful and Sony's design for the PS3 is odd, to say the least, but are you saying the SPEs are practically useless in the case of a game like Skyrim, anyway, or then what is their purpose?

I read an article that Todd Howard said that Skyrim was going to be the last Bethesda Game Studio game on the 360 and PS3. What are your thoughts?

EDIT: I am not saying it will be the last Bethesda Game Studios game on consoles. Just the last on this generation.

To be honest I'm surprised the 360 hasn't been replaced yet.

I'm not saying they're useless. It's the GPU what is useless. High-end CPU + Weak GPU = Fail.

An example: Crysis 2 went like crap in my Phenom II x4 2,8 Ghz (pretty nice CPU) + 9600GT (old GPU) under DX9, 1280x720 (console resolution) and Very High settings. And when I upgraded to a GTX 560 Ti, it runs absolutely flawlessly at DX11 mode, 1680x1050, Ultra settings AND HD texture pack installed.

I replaced a crappy GPU with an state-of-the-art one, and the results were abysmal. The same could be applied to the PS3.

What, then, was Sony thinking?

Hopefully Fallout 4 so they can get their bearings and when it gets to TES 6 it will be the best it can be; as they'd have more knowledge on the limitations.

Yeah, I'm calling this a fake. Todd Howard just recently said that people shouldn't be holding out for next gen consoles, he said 2014 at the earliest.

How does it feel to discuss a fake article for 5 pages???......
