I read an article that Todd Howard said that Skyrim was going to be the last Bethesda Game Studio game on the 360 and PS3. What are your thoughts?

EDIT: I am not saying it will be the last Bethesda Game Studios game on consoles. Just the last on this generation.

Of course.. kinda a no brainer that this generation has long lived its day 360/PS3 will not be around in 5 years

Exactly. Not the last of their games for sure, just the new consoles will be out when their next game is. -shrug- No worries or surprise there.

I think thats good. I wouldnt want to see another BGS game on this generation, nor would I have the time. I know BGS has another announced IP and Im guessing its Fallout 4. This should help them become comfortable with the next gen consoles, which is good for TES 6. Yeah I know.... its a pretty huge extrapolation

where did u read that at i doubt its like there gona stop making TES on console it was 6 years till the new one came out so about that time will have a new console

I really wanted TES6 as a launch next gen. Its not going to work out like that.

The rumours are MS and Sony will replace their consoles in the next 1-2 years. Of course, Beth will develop for the new market - Xbox 360 sales of Oblivion accounted for a majority of the sales of the product, for example.

It means that Fallout 4 won't be made for the current generation of consoles.

Don't worry, there WILL be a TES 6 either way. Beth will never stop making those games or similar games as long as they remain popular. I PROMISE that TES will be around for the next two decades at least.

Considering how long it takes to develop the TES and Fallout games, I'd say it's perfectly reasonable for the next BGS game to be released on a next-gen console.

Considering they were planning on waiting for the new hardware cycle before they started Skyrim, then yes this is the last game on the Ps3 and X360.
TES VI will be on the next consoles. (probably coming in 2013-2014)

We're probably 2-3 years out on new console launches... so its possible tes6 launches with it, as long as they don't make any other games. I'd prefer they just make elder scrolls games, making fallout3 was a waste of effort, even though I loved it, I prefer more elder scrolls games more often, not less often. Then again there are downfalls to launching a game with a new console, like bugs and not enough time to learn optimal coding techniques on the hardware to take full advantage of it. I mean, Skyrim looks a LOT better than Oblivion even though its on the same hardware... shows what advances time can make on the same hardware. So it might be better if tes6 launches a year or two after the next console launch.

I'm glad. No more terrible graphic cuts for consoles.

btw, a new IP means a new game, not a sequel... at least from what i understand IP to mean.

you have no clue how much current gen is limiting devs do you? To the point that they won't even make a game and have it exclusive because they don't want to release copy/paste games as one dev does once a year..

i expect fallout 4 to come out in 2 years so no. i think fallout 4 will be the last bgs game on this generation
