>90% of people that play TES games have no idea who/what Alduin is. Nor can they/I even begin to argue if there is an overarching theme present through the TES games. I played Daggerfall, Marrowind (+Tribunal/Bloodmoon), and Oblivion. I only completed the mainquests of Morrowind/expansion, not Daggerfall or Oblivion, I'm sure I know more TES lore than the vast majority of people playing the series and I've no idea the arc you're talking about.

I'm not saying it isn't there, I'm sure you're right....but it doesn't matter in terms of making "main TES games" b/c what makes a TES game a "main game" is certainly not it's main storyline. I've no doubt the TES series will continue just fine, even if the prophicies on whatever wall have all been fulfilled over the last 5 games.

I think he refers to the main series and spin-offs like Redguard and Batlespire. I think they will make more main-games, at least for now.

Doubt it. I assume Bethesda are going to make a full game for each of the provinces. And then there's Akavir and Yokuda. :P

anduin's wall is just part of the prophecy just i believe ALL here have been at the archives theres THOUSANDS scrolls there and not even part of them have been revealed as only 1 person can read 1 (and they might not get the same ansver anyway)
this is just 1 of them all, but this is made to wall as ppl didint want others to forget what happened so long ago.
as every 1 knows what happened back them became tales, then legends and then forgotten. this wall is just to tell ppl to watch out.

If you were to ask me, I doubt that the previous four games have really been leading up to Skyrim. Most likely a member of the dev team said one day "Hey, you know what would be cool? Let's pretend that all the other games are leading up to this one!" It'd be a great shame if this were the last game - there's still so much to be covered.

I mean everything has been leading up to Alduin coming, look at the wall. So do you think this is the last main Elder Scrolls game?

Why would they end a succesful franchise?

Aso I'm guessing at the end we defeat Alduin or something so there still is a Tamriel.

Where do people get this " TES was building up to Skyrim"? I played every TES game and I never felt it was for anything except for the game I was playing. It never felt it was for a Skyrim or something else grander in the series.

All Bethesda did was take the thier previous stories and make something out of it. You telling me when Arean was made they knew exactly that it was for Skyrim? No, TES games were not made for Skyrim, but it was a nice way for Bethesda to combine all the other TES games to tie into Skyrim though.

Even if TES VI was the end of all lets say, there is still 200 years to play with between Oblivion and Skyrim and they can also do other time periods as well, in the past.

Daggerfall was to be the last. Morrowind was suppose to be the last. No Skyrim will not be the last unless, Bethesda goes Bankrupt, and I can't see this happening at all, not when you have the xbox the bread winner around. Also there is a huge PC crowd as well, and I believe the PS 3 sales are good to, so why give up on them?

No we don't know for sure, but I can't see it happening from a sales point of view. That would be like saying GM, Ford, Toyota will stop making cars now. I don't think it will happen.

Of course there's going to be another Elder Scrolls game we haven't even visited the Summerset Isles or Black Marsh. Zenimax is strong right now so I'm not worried at all.

No way, I want to see all the provinces on that map, then the other continents, then those beautiful moons, then... oh wait, I'm already old, I doubt I'll be here for Tes XIV :hehe:

I find it ridiculous that people think Bethesda had originally planned that these unrelated random catastrophic events would lead up to Skyrim. You can do that with any series in 10 seconds. You could have a Harry Potter 8 with the story that "The hidden prophecy foretold that the destruction of the philosophers stone, the killing of the basilisk..... and the slaying of Lord Voldemort would all lead the way for the coming of the great (scary creature/person)". See? Easy.

there have been a couple of topics like this before. the games you play are just the elders scrolls being read, and there are hundreds of them, so there will be more games. this is just the end of this story ark.

Yup, and even if Alduin succeeds, which I'm fairly certain he does not, we can wait for a new Nirn

Why would they end a succesful franchise?

I'd rather them end on a high note than flog a dead horse. One day the Elder Scrolls is going to have to come to an end.

Loads of successful productions have ended and people have considered it to a premature end. But sometimes it works out for the best that way. Not that I'm saying that Skyrim will be the last and that Bethesda will end the TES series with number five, I was just giving my opinion on ending successful franchises.

I don't think I could make a judgement in till I play the game and see how the main plot plays out. So right now I'm going to say no.

No, I saw an interview, I think it was with Todd Howard, and the person spoke about the many areas in Tamriel that haven't been done yet and could be done. I felt it would be around for a long time when he said that....joy. :)

Nope. Unless Bethesda losses interest in making money.

Seriously though, I think that they will continue making TES series since they are all great games and will bring them nice profit (witch they deserve).

The Elder Scrolls, while warning of Alduin's return, do not center completely around that topic. There are other scrolls, other prophecies- and as long as Elder Scrolls sells games, they will make new ones. What Bethesda learned in the past is that sales don't do so well on "Sidequest" games as they do on main releases, so I imagine that they'll actually shy away from those in the future. :P

EDIT: And I agree with #65! While all provinces were shown a little bit in arena- I have yet to play in depth games for Black Marsh and Elsweyr!!! D:

The prophecy on Alduin's Wall is that the following events are led up to the return of Alduin,

Recustruction of the Staff of Chaos, Arena.

Activation of Numidium, Daggerfall.

The destruction of Lorkhan's heart, and in turn, the death of the mer gods, Vivec, Almalexia, Sotha Sil, and Dagoth Ur. Morrowind.

The opening of the Oblivion Gates, Oblivion.

That leaves Battlespire and Redguard...

EDIT: Oh yeah, we don't know if Vivec is dead yet. So i guess just the destruction of the heart of Lorkhan at Red Mountain.

Unless it sells abysmally, you can be assured that there will eventually be another one.

I've been looking at miscellaneous forums, and Skyrim is evidently converting new people over to the Elder Scrolls. So Bethesda's advertising department is doing pretty well I say.

Considering they have "Lore Masters" that the entire company goes to for assistance.... TES will be around for quite awhile

No one is saying that Beth had this planned from the start you dolt, and if anyone is you are right in calling them ignorant.

What people are pointing out is that IN THE LORE all those events led up to this one. It doesn't matter if Beth is retroactively changing their lore as they see fit, the fact is that as long as they SAY something is canon, no matter how much of bull it may be, it is still true in the lore.

So kindly shut up.
