Is Skyrim the last of the elder scrolls

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 1:12 am

The only way Skyrim would be the last of the TES series is if it was a huge commercial flop, which is highly unlikely. Plus there are more providences that we've yet to explore, so I think we can expect plenty more years/games of TES lovin' :tes:

Haha, well that's just insane. From that perspective then yeah, they're stuck with the Elder Scrolls story if the universe's existence is dependent on them. Is there proof of what he says or is it his interpretation?

I have no idea what else the story could revolve around. That's not my job but Bethesda's writers.

The Elder Scrolls, like CHIM, are a massive painting hanging on the fourth wall. The Elder Scrolls are the games' code.

At the end of the Thieve's Guild,

I doubt it will be the last game. Elder Scrolls has been around for too long for them to stop now when there's so much still left that they could do for future games.

From any perspective, it doesn't make much sense to end it where it is.

From the company's perspective, it doesn't make sense because they could still rake in vast amounts of cash.
From the games' perspective, it doesn't make sense because there is still plenty left to explore.
From the universe's perspective, it doesn't make sense because Landfall still has yet to occur, and I doubt Alduin is going to succeed in eating the world; that would destroy the player's ability to still do stuff after the main quest, something that the Elder Scrolls has yet to do and hopefully never does.

EDIT: oh hey i got dubz

The Question is....do they want to make more money?

The Answer is......Yes, we want as much money as we can possibly get.

So the NEW question is

Will we make money off of an Elder Scrolls VI?

The Answer is......Yes, but only if Skyrim is successful

And the chances of Skyrim not being successful are...?

I doubt that can even be calculated.

I predict TES VI will be Elsweyr, and will involve the moons.

I really hope you're right
I'd love to see Elsweyr in a game instead of a generic place like Valenwood, Summerset Isles or Hammerfell.
And the main quests involving the moons, that would be neat.

The Moons would be EPIC.

Yet....I'd like them to do Valenwood, and show us some Savage Wild Bosmer.
Instead of the flaming gay Wood Elves we've seen.

Wow. I know many people who though Oblivion was the last Elder Scrolls because the Septim line died. Skyrim will not be the end. Even if the company goes bankrupt (not likely), modder's will go ahead and make their own Elder Scrolls'. And eventually some company would buy the rights to TES (like Bethesda did with Fallout) and make more TES games. So no. Skyrim is not the last. Even if Alduin does eat the world, the next game will start from inside his belly.

If they can make 12+ Final Fantasy games, they can make numerous more TES games. It just boils down to the sales factor. Without a profitable business model, it will die like everything else. However, things are looking good atm.

Why does this topic keep coming up? What indication has there been, lore-wise or marketing-related, that this could possibly be the last game. The answer is a very obvious no. Quit being stupid.

I hope it is.

That's not to say I hope it is the last game set in the same universe. I hope they continue making games in the same world but with a different major storyline not related to the Elder Scrolls.

Actually, not all of them have been truly related to the elder scrolls themselves.

No way, Skyrim will NOT be the last Elder Scrolls game.

The scrolls are the world, I think some people are having trouble understanding that, think of it like the book of fate everything that has happend or ever will happen is written in the scrolls and they have no end.

Actually, not all of them have been truly related to the elder scrolls themselves.
All the main series ones have, insofar as the events are foretold by them; the destruction of the Staff of Chaos, the reawakening of Numidium, the destruction of the Heart of Lorkhan, the fulfillment of St. Alessia's pact.

Aren't Arena - Skyrim's story lines based off ONE Elder Scroll? And last I read, there were tons more.

Well, not Arena. It is the only game in the series where you are actively helping others decipher different Elder Scrolls to reveal the locations of long lost dungeons to find the peices of the staff of chaos. In other words, its based off of several different scrolls which suggest the same prophesy.

Edit: Am I seriously the only one in this room who answered this question? Its kinda an easy one.

Asking this is like like asking if the next FF game will be the last one. It will never stop, even if they go every providence then they'll just make one will all of Tamriel in one game, how epic will that be?

Nope. So long as they keep improving the series and being unique with the story we will keep buying them. So long as we keep buying them will keep making them.
