That wont do anything if your game won't write saves to that folder. You want to play someone else's saves? SOunds like a permission issue or a background program is preventing the write.

Can you see the launcher files? SKyrim.ini and SKyrimprefs.ini. Are you using mods?

Things to try (not necessarily in this order):

  • Delete the entire save directory, enter the game and try to save.
  • Delete the entire [My Games\Skyrim] directory and verify the cache from within Steam. Note: You'll want to backup any configuration information and manually restore it.

  • Reinstall the entire game.
  • Turn off Steam Cloud for Skyrim.

Do you have write permissions to the Save folder ???

1. Delete your Save folder

2. Go into your Skyrim GAME directory (Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim)

3. Find TESV.exe, right-click on it, Properties-->Compatibility-->Privilege Level--> Tick "Run this program as an administrator", Apply, OK.

4. Do the same for SkyrimLauncher.exe.

Run Skyrim through Steam and click PLAY on the launcher screen. QUIT at the load screen. After, check to see if Skyrim created a new Saves folder. !!!

Try to save !!!

I don't think Steam will accept that you run them as admin.

@ilyes1234

Have you deleted and reinstalled Skyrim at any point, or perhaps installed it under a different User Account on that computer?
